Lance Link, Secret Chimp
Edited on Tue Jun-27-06 09:53 AM by NewWaveChick1981
Is there anything he can't do? :P

It's the Evolution Revolution!

Lance and Mata Hari were my faves. The Evolution Revolution was the best! :D I'm sure the FReepers had a shit fit when the word "evolution" was introduced on this show in the 60s!

If Lance and his crew were working for the country now, things would be so much better....

2. It's summer, and it's slow season right now...
...which is why I have some time on my hands. :) Fall will be a different story since it's busy season, so you'd better enjoy my presence now while you can! :loveya:

4. I used to watch that show when I was a kid on Nick-at-Nite
I haven't seen it in years though...but it sure entertained me when I was 7. I wish someone would put it back on

6. It was really cool when I was a kid.
I watched it as a first-run show, which tells you how old I am. :D Did you know that the animal handlers used peanut butter and salt tablets to get them to move their mouths?

10. I actually liked the Banana Splits...
...but they were not nearly as well-done as Lance Link. :)

12. They kind of scared me.
And I really grew to hate them when I had to hear their theme song's chorus repeated in the chorus of "Buffalo Soldier" by Bob Marley.

The Evolution Revolution did great songs.

13. Yeah, ER rocked!
I remember standing in front of the tv rocking out when my mother came into the room and just started laughing. She thought it was funny that a kid my age would be so into Evolution Revolution music.

Do you remember the Banana Splits rumors that circulated during that time? Supposedly, the costumes hid the true identities of the characters, and they were the Monkees in disguise. Snorky was supposed to be Davey Jones, and he never said anything because the British accent would give him away. Ah, kids...

14. I missed those rumors completely,
probably because that first summer of the Banana Splits I was uprooted from Wisconsin to Virginia, and began to move on from the Monkees to the Cowsills.

I'm glad to know the truth behind the Banana Splits now, though. All things are becoming clear at last.

16. Those rumors were in heavy circulation in Atlanta, where
I was born and grew up. :) They got all the kids up in arms, too. Be glad you missed them!

17. I was comfortable with the Splits.
I was addicted to Danger Island--possibly the only mini-serial that actually came to a satisfying conclusion. It also introduced the now sadly haggard Jan-Michael Vincent.

The thing that really blew my knowledge box wide open was the horror of the girl children with guitars singing Ta-ra-ra-boom-de-ay. They could turn up anywhere.

Actually, I understand your fear.

I was terrorized by the Ta-ra-ra-boom-de-ay kids too! :scared: But Danger Island was the best...

15. I first saw them at the movies, when theaters still showed
film shorts or cartoons before the feature. I was completely captivated when they arrived on my Saturday morning television. Remember the Slow-Motion Ray gun? And how all the books came off Lance's shelves either for the secret exit or his bachelor-pad bed?

Memorable quotes:

"What's your theory, Darwin?"

or Dragon Lady musing on what she will do with the spoils of her criminal endeavors: "Maybe get rid of abacus, buy adding machine."

18. LOL!
Oh, yeah! Great quotes!

Another one:

"Jawohl, Herr Baron!"

Bernie Kopel and Pat Harrington did most of the voices. They did such a great job...

:hi: Thanks for pulling that up! Groovy times indeed...

See, if only the Dems were in power, they could hire him again. Lance could be out fighting terrorists like Ali Assa Seen and Wang Fu! He'd do a better job than the HSA! :)
