Okay: I am only sharing this because I am a chastised woman.
My soon to be ex husband just came back from a local bookstore. We exchange a few words and then he tells me (you won't believe this... well, maybe you will...) that he watched an older gentleman attempt to pick up a woman in a manner very smooth, very skilled. What did the man look like? I asked him. My friends, IT WAS MY SUGAR DADDY!!! Oh my god. And I was feeling SO very special!

No response required. Just wanted you all to know that you were totally right about this man. Told you I'd tell you when I knew! :puke:

1. So, this old guy is from the "cast a wide net" theory.
Sorry you aren't special, but at least you didn't fall for his line of bullshit.

35. girl, see, this is the guy you could have gotten some nice meals out of..
and perhaps some shopping, without HIM cashing in.

Maybe it's not too late? Take him for a little ride... or at least get some nice meals.

given him the sadistic pleasure. Although he's enjoyed watching me rejected more than once recently and you'd think he'd be all chuckled out by now :(

8. It's okay CalPeg.
I enjoy a little excitement in life and I had nothing invested in this fellow. In fact, I'm going to call him tomorrow a.m. as scheduled and reveal what I know, and how. It will be a pleasure!

already some suspicion of hanky panky on the part of the new beau, however.

and a tour of the world the first night you meet him, you say to yourself: hmmmmm.....

16. The only reason I do is because he identified the man
by the clothing he was wearing at lunch which was a little unusual. He couldn't have guessed right down to the open shirt and loafers. It's Maine. Nobody wears loafers unless it's to church on a major holiday.

I wonder if I'm going to have nightmares tonight?

17. if he knew who the guy was
and that's surely not beyond the realm of possibility -

he could be just getting a shot in, ya know?

On the other hand, even if he does know who the guy is, he may be telling the truth.

21. You'd have to know my husband to believe he was telling the truth.
Like I said to Ms. Pie, my husband has comforted me over my lost lover because he's seen how it devastated me. IOW, he's past the stage of being truly vindictive. (I hope)

Especially the male of the species! It's all right though; these occasional bouts of excitement are what make life worth living.

24. Never trust an artist
Trust us bookkeepers with fake South American gentleman accents and artists souls...

Sorry to hear it, kiraboo. But fun is fun, even if you later find out the fun came in a different package than you thought. You had fun, the guy's a fake--smile, then curse, then enjoy the rest of the day. You seem like a cool person, btw. Feel special, I'm sure I'm not alone in believing you are. (And I'm not being fake because I have no ulterior reason to say it! See?) :)

Oh, and have you considered not confronting him, but playing him for a bit of cash before you scoot? "I need $5000 or I can't see you again! I can't tell you why!" Big fake sob. "You'll have to trust me, like I trust you." Assuming he's got any money, or was that fake, too?

27. I've considere that, jobycom!
I can't bring myself to set eyes on him again however. I left it saying I'd call him (because I'm still living with my husband and he is very unhappy when I receive calls from men, despite our situation). At first I was going to make an issue out of it with him but I've since thought - why? I don't care what he does one way or another as long as he stays away from me.

And yes, I'm totally cool. Which is why I'm getting suckered by men left, right and center.
