Man with 10-year erection awarded $400,000
Malfunctioning penile implant is painful and can't be removed

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - A former handyman has won more than $400,000 in a lawsuit over a penile implant that gave him a 10-year erection.

Charles "Chick" Lennon, 68, received the steel and plastic implant in 1996, about two years before Viagra went on the market. The Dura-II is designed to allow impotent men to position the penis upward for sex, then lower it.

But Lennon could not position his penis downward. He said he could no longer hug people, ride a bike, swim or wear bathing trunks because of the pain and embarrassment. He has become a recluse and is uncomfortable being around his grandchildren, his lawyer said.

10. Why get an implant to start with?
Mind you, look who's asking: The guy who's incapable of getting a life in the first place. :D

What bothers me is how he could prove for 10 years he's been in that much agony; unable to get the medical attention needed - surely there's a warranty?

If you want awful, just ask... I'd rather live without the implant. Wouldn't need it anyway. And some people just need to accept change - and not let bits of plastic in metal into their system that will break and cause worse things to happen.

3. I was going to make a smart ass remark.
But, in reality, I can see how that kind of situation could make your life pretty awful.

Maybe he can use some of the $400k to have the implant removed.

13. it can't be removed, that is the entire issue
i am confident the man would have rather had the implant removed immediately when it proved to be nonfuctioning, unfortunately, apparently because of other health issues it cannot be removed

they kind of tap dance around it but i'll guess that going in and out of the penis to remove an implant is not like going in and out of a chest to remove a breast implant, at some point, you are going to destroy the plumbing and simply make matters worse

28. There's one line in there that leads me to believe they may
do alot of damage to the plumbing when installing that device.

SNIP:

Lennon cannot get the implant removed because of health problems, including open-heart surgery, his lawyer said. Impotence drugs could not help Lennon even if he were able to have the device taken out, because tissue had be to removed for it to be implanted.

20. Reminds me of Eddie Murphy's joke
He said that's when the teacher would always ask him to go to the front of the class and write the answer on the chalk board.

"Fuck it!", "I'll take the F"

Is the thing bolted to his pelvis? You would think he could strap it down or something.
