Am I alone?
I can't fucking STAND "air fresheners" or scented candles in the house.

If you want to freshen the air, open a goddamn window!

Anyone else?

1. I hate them with a passion!
Those scented candles make me want to vomit. And potpourri! Yuck.

I don't mind a of the little essential oil based stuff, but fake smells kill me. Especially fake fruit smells. :puke:

6. And "watermelon" is the absolutely WORST fake smell. My kids are not
allowed to eat "watermelon" flavored candy around me. Makes me want to vomit.

8. I have a no fake fruit smells rule
Luckily LeftyKid can't have those things anyway, he's on a diet to manage some behavioral issues and arteficial colors and flavors are the primary thing it forbids.

4. I hate air fresheners but I like scented candles.
In addition to the scent, I imagine they are santitizing any bad-smelling air molecules. Call me crazy.

It's a great agency, they treat us well. I'm not thrilled about the accounts, and I feel like a machine. I want to design books again.
Other than that, I guess I can't complain. I have other creative outlets to keep me sane. How were the cookbook sales, and how's your business doing?

Edit to add: Other agencies around here have been closing, so, knocking wood.

24. Yep.
You're fucking nuts.
But I've read your posts about your health issues, too.
At least if you have to do it, you'll do it right, and do right by your employees.
The best of luck to you, Redstone.

Though whoever puts it up will get it back in five years and double it in ten.

15. Yeah, its a fakey smell
The janitors at work put them everywhere. At first I thought it smelled like candy. I can't figure out which scent its supposed to smell like but it certainly isn't fresh air.

17. No air fresheners here
but I do love scented candles. Plus I burn essential oils in a diffuser. No fruity smells though, I hate those.

I live alone so opening windows for fresh air late at night is not a safe option for me.

28. Not afraid, just cautious
I live in a city, in a safe neighborhood. I've never heard of a break in here but why chance it? I also shut my windows when I'm at the lake house in the country too.

I do open my windows until it gets dark, then I shut my windows & turn on my alarm.

That stuff is equally as smelly as scented candles and air fresheners. Any one of those three makes me feel like I'm going to have an asthma attack.

30. There was a mall I used to refuse to go to
The Yankee Candle place in it was so pungent that I could smell it in half the mall. It got to the point where I just refused to ever go there. Just thinking of that smell gives me a little headache.

32. Not alone.
I've gotten to the point I can't use any perfume anymore. No scented body lotions or shower gels. Too artifical smelling.

I do love a little incense once in awhile or I put on a pot of boiling water with anise oil in it. Not very often, tho.

36. Most scented candles make me want to hurl.
Especially the fruit or vanilla-scented ones. :puke: And when used for "air-freshening" purposes, what you usually get is a whiff of the underlying odor (cat litter, sweaty socks, cooked fish, stale cigarettes, etc.) with an overlay of sickly-sweet fake blueberry. Yakk! Nasty!
