Oregon has a longer coastline, if you know what I mean . . .

Oregon gave the nation Wayne Morse and Peter DeFazio. North Carolina gave us Jesse Helms. Over and over again.

Oregon State has the bitchin' colors of Halloween; North Carolina has wimpy-ass powder blue.

Really, when else can you shout "Go Beavers!" in public and not get your face slapped?

10. I love that cheer. My kids had a Beavers-crazy camp counselor

who made them say it frequently, and they taught it to me.

I didn't grow up in Oregon, so I don't know all the local college trivia stuff ...

That's gotta count for something. The Beavers also eliminated Miami from this year's College World Series.

for not recruiting any stud players from/after that success except Steven Jackson. Oh yeah, he let Mike Hass walk on..

But that season and that win counted for so much.

However the back-to-back Pac-10 (er, 9 'cause that other school doesn't have a baseball team) champ OSU 'ballers can have make made their own special place in OSU history.

Hell, right up there with Linus Pauling and Dick Fosbury. :-)
