Stewart to his viewers; sorta like "you may not have heard of this guy, but he's really popular.....he says things on the air that we can only say in the newsroom".

It was a nifty little spot. Made Stewart and the show look good I thought.

just sorta unexpected I guess. I had WNT on in the background and happened to catch it.

I just thought it was nice to have Stewart recognized in a good way and not made fun of by the 'Big Boys', as I doubt the Daily Show is particlarly popular among the media elite types.

that i didn't catch, would love to know what was said in entirety. Something about the start of war in Iraq, and if .....then you are too caught up in the left...and if.....then you are too caught up in the right ...(?)

did anyone catch this? or could please fill in the ....'s ?

8. I remember when Jon said something like that.

It was after the fall of Saddam...Jon said, "if you can't feel just a little bit of joy at the fall of a brutal dictator, you're hopelessly lost to the left. If you can't feel just the slightest twinge of regret that we went to war, you're hopelessly lost to the right. This show, it's for the rest of us."

Pretty profound.
