Are there any "Dynasty" fans out there?

I am a huge film and television buff. (comes with having a video degree) So I like watching good tv, because some actually exists. Well, last fall I happened to see "Dallas" at blockbuster, so I ended up renting the first two seasons and was absolutely engrossed by the series. So much so, that I bought the third season, which was awesome too. Now I remember watching "Dynasty" a little bit when I was very young, but no way could I actually grasp what it was about, I was like 7 years old or something.

Well, I decided to switch to Blockbuster online, because they have more options than the stores etc, and I picked up the first DVD of the first season of "Dynasty." As I recall when I was younger, my parent's preferred "Dynasty" to "Dallas," however I loved "Dallas" so much when I watched it this last fall, I'm not sure if it can be topped. So I was just wondering how everybody out there felt about "Dynasty" and all. I think I'll probably watch an episode or two here pretty soon. :)

Oh yes, I know, I am an absolute dork too. A 31 year old male who likes watching soaps from over 20 years ago. :) In all fairness though, I used to be kind of cool. :)

1. Soap Network

I've been watching the reruns of both these shows on the Soap Network.

Incidentally -- for those who care about this sort of thing -- I read Jackie Cooper's (he was a famous child star of the 1930's who later became a director -- most famous for playing the kid in the original THE CHAMP ) autobiography, and he credits John Forsythe with getting him involved in Democratic party causes and Forsythe refers to himself as "very left-wing".

FTR, I think the acting was better on DALLAS but the overall atmospherics -- costuming and scenery, etc. -- was better on DYNASTY.

2. yeah exactly

the scenery and everything on Dynasty is awesome. However, Dallas had some many great actors playing great characters. Larry Hagman as JR Ewing has to be one of the best characters of all time. He looked like he just relished every second of it too. :)

Forsythe is a Lefty? Now that is a cool little fact there. :)

And Larry Hagman actually was from Texas!

I heard they're making a DALLAS movie with John Travolta as "J.R." and Jennifer Lopez as "Sue Ellen".

I rhink on DYNASTY Alexis was kind of the JR character -- the one everyone loved to hate.

6. i loved Dynasty and Knots Landing, granted 2 very different shows

but both great.
