DUers Birthdays
We have done these before, but I haven't seen one lately.

I bet that no two DUers who respond have the same birthday. If two DUers have the same birthday - that is month, day, and year - I'll dance around my office naked!

Mine is May 27, 1966

The official rules clearly state that I must see them posted by each of the DUers!

I'll start unbuttoning my shirt, though.

9. Wow! Wait a minute!
Talk about your Christmas babies!

So, how did you do it growing up? My daughter is a December 17th child (she'll be two on Monday). We are concerned about the Christmas thing overshadowing the Birthday thing.

Suggestions?

20. Suggestion - don't let it overshadow
It's really that simple. Make sure that she gets whatever kind of birthday party and set of gifts that any summer-born siblings might get. That's what my parents did with me, and what my cousin did with her son who was born Dec. 24 (though his birthday party was generally held on the 23rd, or sometimes after Christmas, depending on availability of his friends, etc.). We always had a larger family gahtering on Christmas Eve, and when he was a child, he always had a birthday cake for Christmas Eve, no matter day his birthday ended up being celebrated with a party.

But it's really very easy - just have a party and gift selection luike you would for any other child. it can be tough since the holidays are already so busy, but it's doable and necessary.

24. Thanks for the advice
I just don't want her birthday to be another holiday event, if you know what I mean. Birthdays are very special to children (they get less special as you age!). Her two sisters have birthdays on July 21st and July Th, so they get to have the summer swim type parties.

I appreciate the input.

30. You know what...
I was a freshman in HS when you were born!

That 1981 just jumped right out at me. I identify that as my Freshman year so readily because that was also the year Reagan was shot. I remember that the principal come on the speaker during English class, and said that he had been shot. I heard cheers throughout the hall. I look back on that and think it was strange considering how much everyone now thinks he was a God.

Sorry...your birth date made me go back a bit.
