Texas football fans: what happened?
How did the Longhorns end up in the Holiday Bowl? I don't understand why they aren't going to be playing in a Jan 1 game. You guys have to feel slighted.

As a Washington State football fan I couldn't be happier, because we are in a no lose situation. The #5 team against #15 sounds like a mismatch.

1. Kansas St. happened.
If Kansas St had lost to Oklahoma, Texas would have been in a BCS bowl. But, since KSU is the conference champ (and gets an automatic bid to the BCS games) and OU is in the BCS Championship game, Texas gets left out. BCS rules state that only 2 teams from any conference may play in BCS bowls.

As a Texas A&M graduate, allow me my moment of schadenfreude: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...sorry Texas fans, er, not really.

3. I used to like you.
But that's all over now.

:P

Yes, Texas was robbed. I choose the LIHOP explanation for why OU suddenly forgot how to play football last Saturday. They're thinking...hey, if we win, we play for all the marbles...and if we lose, we STILL play for all the marbles, and we can screw UT over! Hooray!

Shameful. But what can you expect from a bunch of Swooners?

As for the ags...what bowl are you guys in? Hmmm?

Hook 'em

5. We had a dreadful, dreary season, and our coach is a jerk...BUT...
I had three REALLY good days. Arkansas, Oklahoma and KSU. I love hearing 'horns fans whine...the days after losses are hilariousl

4. So is this situation getting any media play in Texas?
Is outrage filling sports talk radio there?

6. Nope. The sports guys are saying...
...that if Texas had beaten Arkansas and/or OU, this would all be a moot point. Basically, they agree that Texas should not have been relying on other teams.

9. Really, I would have thought the rabid Longhorn fans
would be raising hell over this snub. If something like this happened to the UW Huskies there would death threats going out. Us Cougar fans are use to getting screwed, so we just take it in stride.

10. No snub at all...Texas fans knew the rules going in...
If OU won the Big XII Championship game, they were probablt headed for the Fiesta Bowl. If KSU won, they were out of the BCS. It's safe to say that Texas fans REALLY dislike KSU about now. So, in reality there was no snub. It's just the way things go...

8. Exactly, Texas is way over-hyped.
Arkansas handed them their heads AT TEXAS. Texas deserves the Holiday Bowl IMO.

7. Beat downs by the Hogs in Austin and by the Sooners in Big D...
happened. How could a team that lost basically two home games in a really ugly fashion and even didn't win it's division in the Big XII be considered BCS material?

The Holiday Bowl in Texas' home away from home.
