For how many years have you been boycotting Wal-Mart?
I just remembered that this week marks the 4 year anniversary of my Wal-Mart boycott. Still going strong. Even when I have had to pay a little more for the things I've wanted to buy, I have not bought so much as a stick of gum at Wal-Mart.

1. 7 years
I've only bought one thing at Wal Mart.

Amazingly enough - the pair of sandals I bought then are still in EXCELLENT shape. I've worn them every summer, they are my favourite, and even got a compliment on them today.

:wtf:

Still, I have no intention of ever going back.

2. Almost 15.
I worked for them while I was in HS and vowed I'd never go into another one voluntarily again.

The only time I've been in one since was to pick up my great-grandfather's prescriptions; Hospice was footing the bill and they used the closest pharmacy. I probably could have transferred them, but I didn't have that power.

3. I have to admit....
that I waive my boycott when I have to buy personal items due to the fact they have a great self-checkout line.

5. I boycotted them for four years...but...
ever since they came to town, they're the only game in town. It's the only place I can shop at now for groceries.

:(

Otherwise, I'd have to drive ten miles to the nearest town to shop somewhere other than a Wal-mart for groceries and stuff.

6. How long have they been around?
Never been inside one. Never even been in the parking lot of one.

8. 15 years or longer
When Kathy Lee Gifford's sweat shop story was in the headlines.

I have been there since then but only as a tag along with friends or family who are shopping. I haven't bought a thing from them, or Sam's, in all those years.

10. It'll be four years this September. Wouldn't go again if someone paid me.

But I'm sure all of you feel the same way. And I just finished giving my Walmart-shopping sister a big. fat. lecture. about how she shouldn't go into any of those stores anymore because of the E-V-I-L. It didn't sink in. She's about to start grad school at UCSB. Nothing else matters to her.

11. Since forever ...
I've never been in one, and I will never set foot in one if I can help it.

I'm 43. They didn't come to my neck of the woods until the early 1990s.

12. I've never actually "boycotted" WalMart....
I walked into one about 10 years ago, turned right around & walked out. It just seemed like a depressing dump. Worse than KMart! Far worse than Target!

Learning more about WalMart only reinforced my distaste. But, if boycotting means avoiding something (or someone, as in the case of Captain Boycott) for political reasons--I'd have to say that my original reasons for avoiding the place were NOT political.

I live in a big city & have many alternatives.
