LONDON -- Mick Jagger sealed his place among Britain's establishment Friday, accepting a knighthood from Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace.

Jagger was accompanied at the ceremony by his 92-year-old father Joe and daughters Karis, 32, and Elizabeth, 19

Keith offers his opinion.

MICK JAGGER is to receive a knighthood today (December 12), in a move set to shock ROLLING STONES purists.

The veteran rock star arrived at Buckingham Palace today to receive the honour from Prince Charles, who is standing in for the Queen while she has surgery on her knee, reports the BBC.

But Sir Jagger has already faced criticism from within his own band.

Stones guitarist Keith Richards has slammed the move as "ludicrous", telling Uncut magazine: "I went fucking berserk when I heard. I thought it was ludicrous to take one of those gongs from the establishment when they did their very best to throw us in jail and kill us at one time. It’s not what the Stones is about, is it? I don’t want to step onstage with someone wearing a fucking coronet and sporting the old ermine."

8. Ahh. Elton. Standing in a large glasshouse with a huge pile of stones.
Brandishing a large blackened pot.

5. The whole 'Keef' thing is a bit of an act. Keith is surprisingly eloquent
in real life.

12. A few years ago, I used to get free issues of this literature magazine.
(Not to be confused with a literary journal.) Anyway, in this particular issue, there was a blurb about Keith Richards in the study of his home in Connecticut. (He is a tax exile, as many of you may know.) In the article, Keith is photographed with open book in hand. His bookshelves are filled to overflowing, and more books are strewn all over the place.

I am convinced, moreover, that this is not an act with Keith; he is quoted as saying -- and I paraphrase -- "The problem with people in this country is that (my caps) THEY JUST DON'T READ." He then talks about his favorite authors and books, how many books he tries to read a week, etc. Not bad for someone who, by his own admission, hated school with a passion as a kid.

-- and I forget what his name is; I know the younger one's name is Liam -- resembles Jagger?

ON EDIT: It's NOEL. Just checked the band's official site.

10. "A scrotum with lips"
Is how the AbFab girls described Mick.

I met the groupie who "got" Mick after the Stones' first Houston appearance. He DID wear a sock onstage to increase his "profile".
