When I was a kid my mother brought home a live lobster and let me play with him before she cooked him.

6. You don't have to boil it alive.
You can also steam it alive, or cut in half with a cleaver and then grill it, or just chop it into large pieces and pan fry them, simmer them, bake them, or eat them raw, or any host of methods.

It makes me sad that at the local Wal-Mart they have a lobster holding tank where people can pick out their own lobster to boil alive. People are always pounding on the glass, tormenting those poor animals.

It makes me sick that animals are treated so badly. :puke:

I'm making the transition right now from hardcore meat-eater to vegetarian.

It's going to be rough, but in the end, it'll be worth it.

38. what about leather?
shoes, belts, wallets, etc...?

if it's the way that animals are treated that turns you off from meat, don't forget to give up leather, too.

16. Outrage at tormenting animals doesn't make sense?
Regardless of dietary or lifestyle choices, I know many folks that will eat a burger but will also punch some asshole in the face for inflicting some form of torture on an animal.

It, ahem, DOES make sense.

18. How?
If you're going to eat the animal that's been slaughtered without consideration for its well-being, but lambaste someone for treating a cow in an abusive way, doesn't that make you a hypocrite? :)

Hypocrite, and correct me if I'm wrong, involves belief and opinion.

I think it's the tail end of a shedder season.
(My family with licenses are down in the Portland area and it tends to be a topic of conversation.)

It is a sad reality that much of the time the bugs are too expensive for anything but a special occasion.
Living on the wrong ocean now, it's the steamers I miss the most.

Or Snow Crab or Alaska King Crab. These Crab have far more sweeter
meat and more of it then lobster. Lobster only had it in the tail and
claws...where as Crab has it every where.

32. i prefer crab.
the texture and flavour of crab is better to me -- but i'll eat lobster.

but i wouldn't fix it myself.

but if people want a more humane way to kill their lobster before eating -- stick it in the freezer first.
this will ''knock out'' the lobster first.

55. Lobster Is In The Same Family As A Cockroach, Just Marine
They are not fish. Both lobsters and cockroaches are in the Phylum Arthropod, but lobsters are in the Class Crustacean while cockroaches are in the Class Insect. So no, a lobster is not an insect, but it is very similar to one in many ways! They have similar molting habits and DNA. Give me butter for the lobster though! The cockroach can take a hike! LOL. I have no shame when it comes to surf and turf. Sorry.:)
