Please give me all your rock songs that mention America:
Like

Born in the USA - Bruce Springsteen
American Girl - Tom Petty
Star Bangle Banner - Jimi Hendrix
America the Beautiful - Ray Charles (not rock but very cool)

I'm in charge of my Democrat Club's float in a 4th of July parade.

Thanks!

10. And of course the anthem for the 60s riot days -- "Volunteers of America"
Artist: Jefferson Airplane
Song: Volunteers of America

Look what's happening out in the streets
Got a revolution Got to revolution
Hey I'm dancing down the streets
Got a revolution Got to revolution
Ain't it amazing all the people I meet
Got a revolution Got to revolution
One generation got old
One generation got soul
This generation got no destination to hold
Pick up the cry
Hey now it's time for you and me
Got a revolution Got to revolution
Come on now we're marching to the sea
Got a revolution Got to revolution
Who will take it from you
We will and who are we
We are volunteers of America

11. "American Woman"
Stay away from me-e-e-e"

I loved that song when I was a kid and wanted to join The Peace Corp and go to India. No I didn't go because on the tests you had to do was kill a chicken, pluck, cook and eat it. I'd seen too many chickens killed and just couldn't handle it. Yet I eat chicken so maybe I'm a flip flopper.

Edited on Wed Jun-14-06 11:02 PM by Jed Dilligan
Like a great eternal Klansman
With his two flashing red eyes
Turn around he's always watching
The Washington Monument pricks the sky
Flags for pubic hair ringed round the bottom

The symbols of America, lit up proudly in the night
somehow fits to see the homeless people passed out on the lawn
So this is where it happens, the power games and the bribes
all looking for a piece of ass

The Stars and Stripes of Corruption
Let's bring em all down!

36. Jackson Browne "For America"
You hear people say all the time--
"My country wrong or right"
I want to know what that't got to do
With what it takes to find out what's true
With everyone from the President on down
Trying to keep it from you
The thing I wonder about the Dads and Moms
Who send their sons to the Vietnams
Will they really think their way of life
Has been protected as the next war comes?
I have prayed for America
I was made for America
Her shining dream plays in my mind
By the rockets' red glare
A generation's blank stare
We better wake her up this time

(rest of song)

David Byrne lyrics

"David Byrne Miss America lyrics"

I love america, her secret’s safe with me
And I know her wicked ways
The parts you never see

Oh super-girl, you’ll be my super-model
Although you have a reputation
Can I afford to move above my station
I’m not the only heart you’ve conquered

And I love america, but boy can she be cruel
And I know how tall she is
Without her platform shoes

Oh super-girl, you’ll be my super-model
Although at times it might seem awkward
Don’t run away, oh don’t you recognize me
I’m not the only heart you’ve conquered

And I kissed america, when she was fleecing me
She knows I understand that she needs to be free
And I miss america and sometimes she does too
And sometimes I think of her
When she is fucking you

I love america
Yo siempre he confiado en ti <=i have always trusted you>
I love america
Por que me tratas asi? <=why do you treat me like this? >

Oh super-girl, you’ll be my super-model
Although your pants are round your ankles
And when you’re down, I’ll be your dirty harry
It will be just like in the movies

Oh super-girl, you’ll be my super-model
Although at times it might seem awkward
Don’t look away, I’ll be your teenage fanclub
I’m not the only heart you’ve conquered

42. I love Elvis Costello!
Brilliant Mistake Elvis Costello lyrics
Artist: Elvis Costello
Album: King Of America
Year: 1986
Title: Brilliant Mistake Print
Correct

He thought he was the King of America
Where they pour Coca Cola just like vintage wine
Now I try hard not to become hysterical
But I'm not sure if I am laughing or crying
I wish that I could push a button
And talk in the past and not the present tense
And watch this hurtin' feeling disappear
Like it was common sense
It was a fine idea at the time
Now it's a brilliant mistake
She said that she was working for the ABC News
It was as much of the alphabet as she knew how to use
Her perfume was unspeakable
It lingered in the air
Like her artificial laughter
Her mementos of affairs
"Oh" I said "I see you know him"
"Isn't that very fortunate for you"
And she showed me his calling card
He came third or fourth and there were more than one or two
He was a fine idea at the time
Now he's a brilliant mistake

He thought he was the King of America
But it was just a boulevard of broken dreams
A trick they do with mirrors and with chemicals
The words of love in whispers
And the axe of love in screams
I wish that I could push a button
And talk in the past and not the present tense
And watch this lovin' feeling disappear
Like it was common sense
I was a fine idea at the time
Now I'm a brilliant mistake

49. AC/DC:You Shook Me All Night Long
She was a fast machine, she kept her motor clean
She was the best damn woman that I'd ever seen
She had the sightless eyes, telling me no lies
Knocking me out with those American thighs

Taking more than her share, had me fighting for air
She told me to come, but I was already there
'Cause the walls start shaking, the earth was quaking
My mind was aching and we were making it

And you shook me all night long
Yeah, you shook me all night long

Working double time on the seduction line
She was one of a kind, she's just mine, all mine
She wanted no applause, just another course
Made a meal out of me and came back for more

Had to cool me down to take another round
Now I'm back in the ring to take another swing
'Cause the walls were shaking, the earth was quaking
My mind was aching and we were making it

And you shook me all night long
Yeah, you shook me all night long and knocked me out
And then you shook me all night long, you had me shaking
And you shook me all night long

Yeah, you shook me
Well, you took me

You really took me and you shook me all night long
Oh, you shook me all night long
Yeah yeah, you shook me all night long
You really took me and you shook me all night long

Yeah, you shook me
Yeah, you shook me all night long
