How do you deal with whackos?
Edited on Mon Jun-12-06 10:10 PM by GirlinContempt
I mean, like really whacked out people?

People who, say, pretend to be DJs & musicians, and constantly follow you around and harass you, but are totally awful and clearly lying. People who put up websites dedicated to their musical released, except it's just poorly photo shopped crap and there's no coherent time line and the record label they claim to be on has never heard of them before? And they are always going on about tours to Germany & other parts of Europe, but they can't afford anything better than a geocities site, and their tour dates are impossibilities. And the local shows they claim to play never, ever have happened ever.

And this person just shows up and wants you to let them DJ while you're in the booth, follows you around, won't leave you alone?

Like, this person is beyond just weird, they seem like a pathological liar, or severely delusional (or both?)

I'd provide links as examples, but he just uh... 'released' a... er.... 'rap' track that is clearly made in fruityloops or some such, and is the worst thing ever to pollute the airwaves in the history of ever. But the real reason I wont share it, well, I'll let him explain that himself:

Please be aware that ***** is Aboriginal and is not in any way involved with nazism and has not had any thoughts of avenging ****'s Death, though this video will have a strong tissue of Racism and violence as it is for entertainment purposes only.

Like, seriously, he freaks the shit out of me. It's easy to laugh when I'm safe in my hope, but he's scary and creepy and weird.

and I'm off to bed, anyway.

But I believe it's a very liberal interpretation. It's not uttering threats, at least from what you posted, but some of the harrassment definitions might fit.

Restraining order. He doesn't have to DO anything. It's a hassle but you can get a temporary restraining order, You have the right to live your life without some creepy guy bugging you and creeping you out.

I had a stalker once (!), and the police told me there really wasn't anything i could do about it. Apparently a restraining order was out of the question.

:)

Now your situation, that is a tough one.

You might have no choice but to just tell them to let you be. If they make you that uncomfortable, I think walking on eggshells around the issue probably won't do much. I don't know if this is something you would want to let the police know about, but if you let the person know you want to be left alone and they ignore it, you may eventually have to file a complaint or something. Restraining order might actually be a good idea.

20. Here is what I did with my ex.
I contacted the police. They wrote it up. He was basically calling incessantly for a week and a half...scaring the heck out of my daughter. A photo was circulated to her school and my place of employment and the police paid him a visit...basically letting him know he was on "notice" and to cut it out.

I hope this ends soon. I'm frightened for anyone who deals with this.

32. He is probably a high functioning manic depressive maybe.....

With drug and/or alcohol issues.

I had the same thing happen to me today.

Guy rolls up to me and asks for a cigarette.
I give him one and he immediately strikes up
a conversation. He begins to tell my his life
story in fragmented bits. He talks incessantly.
When I say something to him he doesn't hear
correctly or misunderstands me. I realize my
comments are just a means for him to carry on
his monologue.

To make a long story short he asks me where I'm
going and could he walk along with me.

"Sure." My mistake.

After five blocks I realized he was going to follow
me to my front door however far away that is and
I'll have to slam my door in his face.

If you work in a bar get the management to refuse to admit
him next time he shows up. Get the bouncer to evict him
if he somehow gets in. Don't call the bouncer yourself
You don't want to let him to think that you got him barred.

40. Almost to my doorstep but luckily he ran into someone he knew and
said his goodbyes.

I was pretty relieved. I empathise
with your story. It's hard to be rude to someone who
is overly friendly but at a certain point their over
friendlyness turns to agression. It's just a matter
of time.

You either have to establish boundaries with this
guy and how he isn't a stalker or take steps to
keep him away.

He's fixated on you because he needs someone to share
his fantasies. Who knows what fantasies he is creating
about you and I don't mean sex. He may be telling everyone
that you are his producer or a scout for a record label.

Better deal with it soon GiT

If you are the DJ, have him thrown out of the club. Alter your routine so your path is not predictible. Make sure you park in the open and not some secluded lot.Be ready to make a lot of noise if confronted. Maybe consider a 0.380 caliber companion.
