Sad, Sad day...his family just released this very early this morning. I cross posted in Ohio, but some of you all may have lived there as a child and moved away...some info:
Heard this on WBNS10TV in Columbus (where his show originated), and here is the official word from his website:
Marvin W. Fishman aka Bob Marvin aka Flippo, the King of Clowns passed away
on June 10, 2006. I was not only lucky enough to be his manager and producer but
I had the special delight in having him for a friend. I was spoiled by his attention: you
never met a happier person. Please remember that the joy he gave you came back to
him a hundredfold. He absolutely loved the laughter. He made the world a better place
and is sadly missed by all of us Flippo fans. Thank you Marvin W. Fishman!
The Columbus Dispatch contains news about his service on Monday.
The site:
http://www.flippotheclown.com/index.htmlFor those of us who grew up with Flippo and Lucy's Toyshop and Captain Kangaroo, etc. Bob Marvin will be sadly missed. We raced home from school to see him for many years. This man at one time had a 95% recognition factor in the entire state.
Sad day for many of us late boomers.
