I am so depressed this evening
I have always opposed this war in Iraq because of the bullshit that we were fed to jusitify it.

I apologize if I am beating a dead horse here, but that video I saw today of the our troops gleefully finishing off that enemy soldier left a sick feeling in my stomach that won't go away.

As horrible as this video is, I am going to make sure that EVERYONE I know sees it. I can't think of anything else to do. I feel so helpless.

Signed,
A neo-pacifist

It brings it all back, what this whole fucking thing is about. They're over there, and they're in the highest echelons of the DOD, and it is truly sickening.

It was aired in the UK and Europe.. No wonder they are not too happy with our government these days.. The freepish here in the US do not see this stuff or if they do, they AGREE with the barbarism.. The rest of the world is sickened by it, and wonder if we have all lost our minds..

War strips the decency from men and all that's left is our darkest side, for all the world to see.

This is the "war on terror?" Does one wage a "war on fire" by dousing it with kerosene?

Just when I thought I couldn't be more ashamed to be an American, I see something like this and...

9. That's what war is all about. This stuff happens in every war.
All the more reason we should always stand up to oppose it, especially a war as senseless as this. I'm not naive enough to believe we could ever have a war-free world, but war is truly hell, and should only ever be undertaken as an absolute last resort. People like the neocons who use war as a means to an end truly deserve whatever hell awaits them.

11. That's how young men have always behaved in war.
It has nothing to do with whether the wars serve some purpose or not. The only difference is that the cameras paint a more vivid picutre, instead of leaving it up to those veterans who feel moved to recount the tale as in previous wars.

14. Not true--you're witnessing a war crime
Convention (I) for the Amelioration of the Condition of the Wounded and Sick in Armed Forces in the Field. Geneva, 12 August 1949.

Art. 3. In the case of armed conflict not of an international character occurring in the territory of one of the High Contracting Parties, each Party to the conflict shall be bound to apply, as a minimum, the following provisions:
(1) Persons taking no active part in the hostilities, including members of armed forces who have laid down their arms and those placed hors de combat by sickness, wounds, detention, or any other cause, shall in all circumstances be treated humanely, without any adverse distinction founded on race, colour, religion or faith, sex, birth or wealth, or any other similar criteria.
To this end, the following acts are and shall remain prohibited at any time and in any place whatsoever with respect to the above-mentioned persons:
(a) violence to life and person, in particular murder of all kinds, mutilation, cruel treatment and torture;
(b) taking of hostages;
(c) outrages upon personal dignity, in particular humiliating and degrading treatment;
(d) the passing of sentences and the carrying out of executions without previous judgement pronounced by a regularly constituted court, affording all the judicial guarantees which are recognized as indispensable by civilized peoples.
(2) The wounded and sick shall be collected and cared for.
An impartial humanitarian body, such as the International Committee of the Red Cross, may offer its services to the Parties to the conflict.

13. Me too
I've had a bad day. My wife finally gave me a clue why.

I woke up to news of us killing more children. This time in Afganistan. I was really upset. I think I find this post-invasion syndrome worse than anything, including Vietnam.

I'm feeling a little down about our chances because I keep meeting people who think everything is going fine.

Maybe tomorrow will be better.
