*Update on my Dad...

Again I want to thank everyone for their well wishes, thoughts, prayers and vibes.

My dad definitely has kidney cancer and it looks as if it is also affecting his prostate. It is a fast moving cancer (bad news) but it doesn't appear to have gone to his lungs yet...which is where it usually moves to (good news). His oncologist is hoping to have him in surgery by the end of this week or beginning of the next. They have high hopes for him. And so do I. I printed out the well wishes from you all to give to him.

DU, you are simply the best group of people on the internets, and quite possibly in the world. I will keep you updated as he moves through this. Thanks again.

5. It has to be somewhat good if they have high hopes for him

because doctors can be very pessimistic (in my experience). I am so sorry the diagnosis was cancer, though. Stupid disease. I'm glad they are able to operate, since a lot of kinds are inoperable. Also, very good news that it hasn't spread. You and your family and in my thoughts and prayers. :hug:

78. He was diagnosed with kidney cancer. In a nutshell, it was a growth

he's had for some time that they did an MRI on and found not to be a cyst that his original doc had thought it was. Due to his PSA count being up they ran more tests and found it has also invaded the prostate. So far, his prognosis is pretty good. I'll know more once they are in there.

A few years ago. Had to lose the kidney, of course, but he's fine now -- no recurrence. A friend's husband too -- he is also quite well.
