2. Good luck to you
I will wish you good luck, coupled with the ability to recognize when it's not going to work this go-round and the control to let it go and give it another try later.

Unless this is a copycat, in which case, :P

3. How old is the child - assuming it is not you!
;)

My daughter was really late in potty training due to the fact that she had very severe health problems for a year and a half starting around age 2.

Be patient with the kiddo.

sorry. They generally do it when they are ready, not when you are ready. Good luck. Girls seem to be quicker than boys.

6. My older boy decided when he was 3
I'm serious. He said, "Ok. I'm a big boy now. I'll use the potty."
He used the regular toilet and had not one problem.

Of course, my in-laws hassled me from the time he was 18 months. :eyes:

8. In-laws can be a gem that way.
I'm glad you let him do it in his own time. I'm sure he's glad too. :)

9. I shudder to think what they put Mr GoG through...
On the other hand, maybe the years (and the large amounts of alcohol) made them forget their real experience parenting.

10. My mother suggested a switch.
Which was apparently what she used as a potty training tool for us.

My boys potty trained when they were damned good and ready.

16. sounds like my daughter
she started going on the potty & using those pull-up diapers before she was 2 years old... but, she never took the next step and was very inconsistent. We tried everything, videos, bribery, etc. Nothing work and she was (is!) very stubborn.

But, one day she just decided to start doing all her business on the potty and I think she's only had 1 or 2 accidents in the past month and has been fine for the last 2 weeks.

12. Potty snacks
I took my girls to the super market and let them pick out a box of fruit snacks they wanted.(both of them picked princesses) and when we got home and they begged me for them, I explained that they were potty snacks and the only way to get one is to use the potty. I spent a lot in fruit snacks but neither one of them had any problems after that. I took them with us if we went out any where.

17. Did you get "Potty Time"?? It's a classic.

We are in the process of potty training our son. We used "Potty Time" with our daughter and she loved the songs. They are pretty catchy, I have to admit.

If you find yourself singing, "She's a super duper pooper..." you will know why.

Edited on Wed Jun-07-06 12:24 AM by auntAgonist
dont' really know if it helped or not, but he would read it all the time. There was one book for boys and another for girls.

19. Here's how we did it
Cold turkey - no diapers. Real underwear. Kids know when they are wet. It won't all come gushing out. A little at a time, then rush to bathroom. change undies and pants. Stay at home near the bathroom. This worked in 2 1/2 days.

20. We are going to roll up our area rug this week and start potty
training our son.

Your method is similar to how we potty trained our daughter. So far, our son has not shown any interest in using the potty.
