Who are your favorite charitable celebrities?
Mine include Peter Gabriel, who founded Witness, a program that provides video cameras and training to people living in areas where human rights violations occur.

Sarah McLachlan, who started the Lilith Fair tour for women in music. Ten percent of proceeds from each show went to a local charity. Also, her "World on Fire" video funded charity. Here is the video link.

And, Angelina Jolie for her work as goodwill ambassador for UNHCR.

1. Paul Newman.
I always buy his products when available, and when I shop at the local store, his is the only brand of coffee that uses fair trade practices. I think he said a few months ago that his company has donated $200 million to charity so far.

3. I only buy his salad dressing
and when I'm not in the mood to make my own sauce I purchase his pasta sauce.

I didn't know his coffee was FT but I can't get it around here anyway. I order my coffee online.

5. I buy his cookies
Actually, they're his daughter, Nell's. The organic food co-op here sells them. My favorite are Ginger-Os which are like Oreos -- only with ginger cookies instead chocolate ones.

9. We have a very limited stock of what is available
in my area.

Salad dressing, spaghetti sauce and I think popcorn just about does it.

4. Over the years...
Both of the Newmans have performed many acts of kindness. It's something that they've always been very private about and precedes the product line which has proved to be such a great source to fund numerous good works. I have the utmost respect for them both.

In my book, anyone who gives back to society, is a hero.

6. George Harrison
I've contributed to his UN program for Bangladesh and the Material World Fund many times.

As well as Bono, the obvious choice.

8. Audry Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor
Hepburn for her work with UNICEF and Taylor for being an early activist and fundraiser for the fight against AIDS.
Years ago, SPY magazine perpetrated a hoax with a fake socialite "baroness" with millions who contacted different charitable celebrity spokespersons with her plea to help her distribute her millions to worthy causes as she had no family and wanted to use her money to help people. She offered to personally fly the celebrity spokespeople to their fundraising events and compensate them, personally, for their assistance.
Hepburn graciously refused any personal compensation and directed the "baroness" to contact the charity directly. Hepburn also insisted on buying any gowns she wore to events -- though designers fought to have her as a model, and would have given her gowns for free. She was always a class act.
Jerry Lewis was another story. Not only did he immediately glom onto the "baroness" with over-enthusiastic zeal, he detailed exactly how she could compensate him personally.
