Anyone else think of KFC's latest as a heart attack in a bowl?
Edited on Sat Jun-03-06 12:45 AM by quiet.american
With all the conversation going on about obesity and heart attacks in this country, I still can't believe Kentucky Fried Chicken is pushing this product.

If I remember correctly, it's something like a whole cholesterol-laden dinner all mashed up in a bowl:

Mash potatoes, on top of that,
Corn (not so bad, okay), then
Batter-fried chicken pieces, huh? -- then,
Gravy (at this point, when I first saw this, I thought, what the --) lastly, topped off with,
Shredded cheese

Even the actor in the commercial seems to have a Fear-Factor expression as he eats it.

21. Interesting tactic, though, to go completely opposite of the competition.
Ever since the documentary, Super Size Me, and other attention focused on the unhealthiness of fast-food, McDonald's and Wendy's have made concerted efforts to convince consumers they offer very healthy menu items.

Apparently, KFC's strategy is, forget all that nonsense, have a heart-attack on us! (Okay, I'm being a bit flippant, but it is an interesting strategy.)

28. Interesting point --
I imagine this will sell better in some regions than others. And I would guess it would also depend on how appetizing it looks in reality -- if one were to get one that was just all thrown together, it probably wouldn't be very pretty.

I think their 'first' was a heart atack in a bowl, or in deep fat fried chicken skin. eeeewww.

I call them KFC = "kentucky fried children" 'cause it pretty much fucks your kids up when you feed it to them.

And I think it isnt chicken, but rather leftovers from the neighborhood primate research lab.

I've been known to eat mashed potatoes and corn, mixed together (we ate them that way growing up). I also have been known to eat chicken strips with it, sometimes even shoveling the potatoes with the chicken. So, this doesn't seem so far off. I just don't want the gravy and cheeese.. that doesn't make any sense. White gravy, maybe, but not brown. But definitely no cheese.

90. Well, the whole concept of KFC is pretty gross,
though I admit to having eaten there. And it's only unhealthy if you manage to eat the whole thing, or make a regular habit of it. But that's the problem with all fast food. The giant burgers bother me more, but then I could never imagine eating one of those. Most fast food is unhealthy, but people will continue to rely on it, as long as it's fast, relatively cheap, and so easy to obtain.:-(

64. You guys don't know "real" heart attack food.
At Rutgers University, there are "Grease Trucks." Yes, that's what we really call them and they are famous. They're all run by Arab immigrants and have signs showing that they're only "Conditionally Satisfactory" in terms of passing the health code. You'll need to make sure you don't step in any drunken frat boy vomit while ordering. Personally, I've only had falafel from there but what they are famous for are their "fat" sandwiches...

Remember when you see fries or mozzerella sticks, they are on the sandwich itself
Fat Darrell (aka Fat Steve or Fat Sal)--Chicken Fingers, Mozzarella Sticks, French Fries and Marinara (lettuce and tomato) The Fat Darrelll was also made famous by Maxim Magazine and now has it's own website, http://www.fatdarrell.com/

73. I had one sandwich from the trucks in my 4 years there.
And it was a gyro. I couldn't stomach the fat sandwiches. I thought they were funny at first, but after a while they just became said.

74. Yeah, I could only do the falafel.
I don't eat meat though and even the veggie fat cat is too scary for me to try.

67. I thought it looked really yummy
so did my husband. Most food on commercials look yummy to me, because I'm trying to eat healthier. They always show the fattest burgers with the reddest tomatoes, crispist lettuce, melting cheese.. etc. It's evil what advertising does, but I will admit that this item looks good. I will never eat it, but I will continue to have my tummy growl when I see the commercial.

Now to finish this yogurt :hippie:

69. the only thing worse is Hardee's philly steak burger. It is one of their
gargantuan burgers piled on top of philly style shaved steak and cheese.

76. All of those fast-food "bowls" make me wanna gag
Just take a bunch of greasy, nasty food, stir it up in a bowl, and presto, instant "bowl cuisine". :puke: It's worse than Hungry Man XXL dinners, but not by much. JEE-zus, could it get any more disgusting?

:(
