Good Thursday Morning, Crew!

:donut::hi:
Welcome to the Thursday edition of the Early Morning Crew thread! :bounce: I hope you had a great Wednesday! It was a good but busy day for me, which made it go by really fast. We made it over the Hump Day and so now we're cruising down to the weekend! :woohoo: I have to work both weekend days this week, but I'm off on Monday and Tuesday so my "weekend" begins then.

I still don't have a resolution to the Roxio software problem I've been having, so I called them again yesterday morning to get a refund. Guess what? They don't GIVE refunds for software purchased at a retailer. They only give refunds if you purchsed it from their website and downloaded it! I was told to "Take it back to Best Buy". Well, Best Buy doesn't give refunds on open software, DVD's and music CD's. They only exchange for the exact same item. When I gave the guy on the phone this information, he said that he would excalate my issue and make sure someone called me within 24 to 48 hours. x( I hung up on him. Then I called Best Buy and talked to one of the managers and told her about all my trials with them and asked her; "So if you were in MY position, what would YOU do to resolve the problem?" And she said they would give me a store credit for the amount I paid for it! :bounce: So at least I can go by there today and get something else and not have to be stuck with useless software! :woohoo: Screw Roxio, says I!

So, are you ready for a BIG day today? I hope so because it's time to rise and shine! :bounce:

Couldn't check in yesterday, we had some serious lighting and thunder going on. I had to turn off the computer.

No yards so increased runoff, that is a big problem for Houston.

Good to see your happy face this fine day.

Dump the software in favour of something that actually works - definitely the best thing.

10. All's good here thanks.
My evil twin as gone back on holiday somewhere - all is calmness round here (for the moment at least).

Work isn't too busy, but neither am I wandering round looking for things to do (both being equally damn irritating).

I'm on Shostakovich string quartets today.

36. They are great.
As usual for Shosty they're slightly pushing the edge outwards - which is very much something I enjoy, but definitely not to everybody's taste (including famously Stalin).

The weather is over-cast here - the predicted that we'd have one of the coldest winters on record, it turned out to be rather mild; now they've predicted a long hot summer and thus far it's been cool and wet...I wonder why we ever listen to them.

43. LOL! I've often wondered the same thing.
Those weather forcaster people don't really have any idea what it's going to do judging by how often they are wrong. They say we are supposed to have thunderstorms both today and tomorrow, so we'll see about that. Highs in the middle 90's.

I think I would really enjoy string quartets playing at my store. At least for a while.

49. You should get your manager to hire one in.
Live music is wonderful, and the sight of a string quartet communicating with each other, all silence whilst they're playing, is amazing.

71. Yes, we play music...
We have a music service here in the US called "Muzak" and our corporate people decide what music is played. We get a new mix of music once a month. At this time, there is a lot of Jazz and New Age, which is OK with me.

Hey, something I want to know (and I can't remember if you and I have talked about this in the past), but why is it that composers of today are called New Age artists? They write new songs for full orchestras and they are relegated to the New Age genre. I just don't understand.

81. Not all modern composers.
There are plenty of classical composers alive and writing. I've never heard of Tavener, Paert, Gorecki, Hakim, Weir et al. referred to as anything other than classical.

I don't really know anything about New Age and thus why it's treated as separate - I had a look at the Wikipedia page, it seems like they didn't really grow out of the fore-going classical music world but have influences more from various forms of light-music and experimental things (such as ambient music).

Classical music isn't simply defined by the instruments used, it's a much more complex question and I'm no musicologist.

lunch break is approaching.

My cell is messed up, I have to go to the shop and ask for another phone. I like my cell, but that bugs me.

69. It seems that the threat of getting replaced worked.
The 'phone heard it and decided to work again.

I'm a total creature of habit with my lunch. It's a salad, with some cheese (stilton today), soup (mushroom and garlic), bread and coffee and milk (separately, of course) to drink. But that's still over an hour away...green tea for the moment.

What did you eat?

I eat small lunches these days as I try to lose weight and as I cook for myself in the evening. Yesterday I had rice with veggies.
This weekend I need to make me a rhubarb dish with pudding :9

and also when I was a young grown-up. Now I need to cook it myself. The kick is that you caramelize oat flakes and put them on top of the rhubarb with the vanilla pudding :9 Gosh, I get a watery mouth just by thinking of it.

Glad to hear about all your accolades, you DO deserve them you now. Your colleagues would not have voted for you if they didn't think that you were the best person for the job. Suspect it was time for that other person to step down. You seem like a very congenial person to work with.

Glad you got that credit. Well, Roxio got a heap of bad publicity here - and all to save a measly few bucks. Dumb. Know anything about Rod Smith? Guess he's doing pretty well for a previously unknown.

He's a state senator from north FL running against Jim Davis in the Dem. gubernatorial race primary. According to our paper he's "narrowly trailing Gallagher and Crist." The article quoted him saying that (in the early days of the campaign) "One poll had me at 4 percent with a margin of error of 5 percent."

I'm going to make sure they ONLY pack what they're supposed to. (The last guys packed a trash can with trash in it!) We still have some things out that I don't want them packing. They're only doing the big wall pictures, mirrors, glass from the tops of dressers, and china. Shouldn't take more than a few hours. Then we can get the rest of today's to-do list done (I have to patch the walls after the pictures are down.)

153. Billyskank you are
a bright light in a dark night. I haven't told too many people this but I guess I'm coming out of my "closet".

I have sensed energy in people since I was born, I get to know things just by thinking of people (even those I've never met.)I can tell what the agenda is and I also get to see others potential. It's a gift with responsibility attached but I just want you to know that when I tell others they are "good people" I know it's the truth.

You are a steady companion, who carries a great deal of light. No one is perfect but you have a heart so loving that it sometimes hurts you.

I am very grateful that there are those who are genuine and "clear". You are one lovely, lovely soul! :loveya:

Sorry to hear that you couldn't get your software up and running, but then glad to hear that you will at least get a store credit. That's rare. You must have sounded very convincing, but then again, I think it's only the right thing for the store to do that. It's all about PR. Suspect that they don't want to lose you as a customer.

The weather prophets here are talking rain. Personally I think we've had enough for a while, but maybe they'll be wrong? It has happened before you know.

Woke up exhilarated, but only up for about an hour and I'm getting tired. Now what's up with that?
