Good Saturday Morning, Crew!

:donut::hi:
Welcome to the Weekend edition of the Early Morning Crew thread! :bounce: I hope your work week ended easily and now you have some R & R planned for this holiday weekend. Yesterday was a busy day for me, and so went by very quickly! One minute it was 1 in the afternoon, and the next it was time to close. I hope today goes by that fast! :woohoo:

So what do you usually do on holiday weekends like this? Do you go shopping? Travel to visit family? Go to the lake or the beach? Stay home and watch DVD's? I always have to work them and sometimes my store is so busy its stupid, and others it's empty. I have tomorrow off, but I will be there on Monday for all the fun! I'm just curious.

I want to extend a special welcome to two new crew members; ZombieNixon and TexanWitch! Welcome to the Early Morning Crew you two! We're happy to have you! :bounce:

So let's get this day started, my crew! :bounce: It's time to rise and shine!

No real work just toss in some pecan wood every few hours.

32. The briskets will take about 12 hours to cook.
The briskets will be sliced up and sold for a good cause, so I don't mind.

I learned how from a neighbor, could he make bbq.

Making myself hungry just thinking about it.

38. The money is going to a family that lost everything in a fire, no
insurance.

All the food was donated so at $5 a plate will make at least $2,000, not a super large amount but every penny helps.

56. The food is just part of it, we will have a band, some games.
All in all we have raised around $4000, we had a car wash a few weeks ago.

The neighbor kids washed a lot of cars, they were great.

This picnic should put us around $6,000, that will help them get started again.

It is 6 am here, got to get to bed, have a great holiday.

Though I am pissed off about missing my friend's Sunday BBQ/poker party because I work Sunday night.

What's worse is that we're not working on anything new (because the TV season's over -- I work in that industry), so all I'll be doing is training on old material, even more ironic since I'm leaving the job very soon.

x( What's up with Mr. Bandit? I need to have a little talk with him -- I've NEVER heard of Cat Attract failing. :scared: I have a vet friend I can ask ... she's really busy with rescues on weekends, though, so I don't know when I'll hear back from her. Hang on and let's hear what she has to say.

Yep, I'm pretty excited to meet Joani. :bounce: And I'm SO relieved that it's not raining -- that was getting pretty old!

Guess what? I called Apple yesterday and talked to them about buying a new laptop. I'm going to get a MacBook. :bounce: I didn't order it yet b/c they couldn't guarantee it would get here before we move. So I'm going to wait until we get up to TN. 61. I wish I knew what the problem was too...
Brand new litter box, brand new litter...clean area away from where Tony can get to him...it's all a mystery to me. My vet says there are NO health problems, so I know that's not it. I DO know that if he doesn't quit it and SOON, he's going to have to go. I can't have a cat going everywhere he shouldn't. x(

I'm SO happy to hear about your new computer! Sounds like the Apple people are going to be good! So are they going to build it to your specifications or did you select one that's pre-made?

65. First, try this.
Can you confine him? Put him in a bathroom? If so, put him in there with the box, something to sleep on, and his food and water. Put the litter box away from the other stuff, of course. That may help. I wrote to my friend to see what she has to say. Since she does rescue work, she deals with all kinds of problems.

It's sort of funny with the computer -- I chose a pre-made one and upgraded the hard drive. Other than that, it's fine the way it is! :bounce: And it'll talk to my external hard drive, so I'll be able to put all my files on it from there. :bounce: There's going to be a bit of a learning curve, but I think I can handle that.

68. I thought about confining him like that...
but the only problem is that he starts caterwaling after a few minutes and he's really loud. I don't think I could stand a constant "AAARRROOO"! in there. x(

You'll have to learn some commands and things but that won't take you long! I'm sure you'll be pleased with it too! :bounce:

70. It wouldn't be constant.
Do it when he's good and hungry and maybe he'll concentrate on eating. We have to confine Sashka for her meals b/c she eats everyone else's food. She accepts it and just sit's quietly after she's finished -- and she's one stubborn kitty! I'll let you know what I hear from my friend.

Well, here it is ... the middle one:

Only with 100 Gb hard drive. :bounce: Purty, ain't it? :D

71. Yeah, it sure is!
I've heard lots of good things about Mac laptops so I think you made a good choice!

I guess we can TRY that...we've done everything else we can. x( I'll be interested to hear what your friends says about it.

72. I'll let you know as soon as I hear.
Could be today, could be a few days from now. Don't give up yet.

I forgot to tell you -- I'm getting a new printer for about half price with it. :bounce:

Now we just have to get moved before I can make all the fun happen. x( We should be well on our way by this time next week, maybe even in Georgia by now! :bounce: My poor kitties don't know what's in store for them. We've been putting catnip in the carriers and have found two of them taking naps in them so far. And our vet gave us a homeopathic remedy to calm them down. I'll start giving that on Tuesday. I would love to fast-forward to June 7 or so. :D

Probably nothing too exciting - just the usual. The Trib is saying that in t he Senate race McBride is "Harris Main Foe" - "connections to the nation's most powerful conservative political circles"....blah blah. May be some entertainment value here yet.
