1. Tangential kick
Tom Jennings is such an inspiring motherfucker, it's hard to get words around it. I met him at a BBS conference in Denver in 1992 and have been in awe ever since. He had us all sending free email around the world with Fidonet over these local dial-up BBSs run by kids long before public Internet access became ubiquitous.

And he was a funny-as-hell anarchist and the publisher of the very influential Homocore magazine.

3. I'll let you know how the PDX show is.
The opening bands here are all good, and it's on a Saturday night (tomorrow, in fact), so I'll be ready for some heavy rock action.

7. Well, I guess
Queercore is now the preferred term, but I'm still stuck in the late 80s/early 90s.

8. Yay! I used to really dig them.
Their song "Uncle Phranc" is one of the most exhilirating pieces of music ever wrote. Never got to see them live, though.

Looks like I'll be heading up to Evanston in September.

9. "Uncle Phranc" was performed very well last night,
after Jody Bleyle told a fun story about taking her kid to the LA Zoo along with Phranc and her kids a couple weeks ago.

I reckon they will be as hellaciously rocking come September as they were last night. Everyone was completely alive onstage. Such a nice change from all the blase performances of various dipshit bands the mid-nineties.
