What about dextrose/fructose?
There was this thread in GD

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x1270570

that got into how diet sodas mess with the body's insulin and make cravings for carbs.
Just two months ago I started drinking 8 or more glasses of water per day, and then found the occasional diet soda unsatisfying. I was also drinking decaffinated instant tea that carried aspartame. O.K., so after this thread, I ditched this tea and got UNSWEETENED decaf. So what about the dextrose/fructose items for the unsweetened tea? Or just go back to sugar?

1. dextrose and fructose are both sugars.
In fact, just regular soda pop is sweetened with fructose.

3. They might taste better.
But they'll rot your teeth and give you diabetes.

4. For people who like sweetened iced tea
(which I do not):

I brew the decaf tea bags and add locally produced honey (by taste) before I add any cold ingredients (either water or ice). Afterward, I add my ice/water and, if I have it on hand, a sprig of fresh mint to each glass.

It's a bit more natural and I notice people don't use as much honey as sugar for the sweetness. I've also heard of people doing a mix of unsweetened juices (apple, white grape) w/ their tea.

5. The only sweetner that doesn't affect your glucose level is stevia
I don't think that they have many things with that in it. It tastes ok - but not great.

Stevia is actually good for you.
