This is NOT a sex thread, I'll have you know!

That is a classic art object!

I just knew it would invite comments, though......

Yeah, isn't the Getty up on the hill something else? I've only been once, but we do plan to get up there again.....

Thanks for coming by! Glad you like the pics!

6. I definitely need to go back
That was my first time at the Getty and I was there for an event, so I barely got to see anything.

And of course yesterday was rainy and crappy, so I didn't even get to take any pictures. x(

Last night's storm was very unusual for this time of year.....

The warmer weather makes for a lovely day at either Getty...old or new!

Now.....having said all that.....I agree about Mr. Getty.....

But his Villa is not about politics, or oil, or any such mess....

It is about ART...history, the classics, and restoration......

And as such, it is worthy of our view.....

I'm glad you came by, and I'm glad you felt free enough and secure in our friendship enough to say the things you said here tonight...:loveya:

My comment really was in poor taste, but I couldn't resist trying to be clever. Or something resembling clever. About twenty years ago or so, Getty's grandson (I think) was kidnapped and held for ransom. The kidnappers sent the grandson's ear to Getty as proof that they were holding him. The grandson would have had some stake in that incredible place, although I believe Getty donated it.

But your beautiful pictures certainly outweigh any silly comments I might ma

Modeled after the Villa dei Papiri, near Herculaneum, by the way. The setting & the building were so stunning that I can't remember much of the art. It was stuffed to the gills with "masterpieces" from all eras.

Now that it's home to the Ancient collection, another visit is in order! (Next time I'm in LA.)
