"Nevaeh" ahead of Sarah, Vanessa and Amanda for girl baby names
Nevaeh is of course "Heaven" spelled backwards. Highly popular among...wait for it...evangelical Christians.

Love the title of the article... "And if it's a boy, will it be Lleh?" :D

And there are some that are hardly used anymore--so much so that they sound "fresh" and "different" now.

31. My cousin recently had a baby and named her Katherine
or Kathyrn some form of it after my grandmother. Like the name honestly it's traditional and versatitle. My parents were smart to name me and my brothers traditionally. I don't iike new age yuppie names like Dakota and the others. THey're just silly to me.

40. My son is Timothy
or Tim

traditional, but there are not 12 of them in his graduating class (140 students).

It's gotten to the point that the yuppie names are the ones that dominate. People try so hard to be "different" that the end up doing what everyone else does.

5. I love it when people get all warm and fuzzy with girls' names
My theory....It just makes it easier to spot the bad kids in junior high. Think about it...have you ever met a girl named Patience that was patient. Prudence? Harmony? Faith? These were the girls that heated their black eyeliner with a lighter before they applied it and reeked of cigarette smoke.

Thank you, Evangelical Christians, for creating a whole new generation of girls with ironic names :patriot:

22. I loved Robert Smith!
So much time was spent on trying to look a bit like him. Powered face, reddish lips and black smudgy eye makeup.

And my hair is just as poofy but sometimes needed a spray to stay in place. I sometimes wish that hair would come back just so I would never have to style it again.

...and names like Hazel, Mildred, Agatha, Agnes, Cecil, Horace, Marvin etc. will be in vogue again.

I already prefer all of them to the tedious names that are in vogue now - like Brooklyn, Madison, Jaden, Caden, Aidan etc. :puke:

I hate when a name gets too popular.

My daughter's Callie. I didn't pick it because of cuteness but in tribute to my greatgrandmother. If a name can mean anything then this name will turn my daughter into a woman not afraid to express her opinion and that does not believe in taking crap off of anyone yet is very sweet and loving.

I've noticed a bit of a comeback w/ both Ruby and Callie. My friend's granddaughter is a Ruby. And I've found a few variations of Callie lately, though everyone I've met stated they named their Callie's after a relative.

My Callie is intelligent, opinionated, athletic and tends to stand up for the underdog. Her fights at school have always been because someone else was teased, not herself.

I consider those to be good traits most of the time.

FWIW, though, neither of her parents are evangelical Christians. Hell, the last time my brother went to church on a regular basis, it was because he wanted to get on their church league basketball team.
