Just found out my uncle is running for the Oregon State Senate!
Hank Franzoni is running (as a Democrat) in the 12th district. He is not my blood relative, which unfortunatly explains why he is a Democrat. If anyone's from that area and would like to help out let me know!

Also, what are the politics like in Oregon. Is it a red or a blue state?

2. Finnfan, that's awesome.
I'm a proud resident of Oregon. Lovely little state that it is, we are dyed-in-the-wool democrats here. Oh, every once in a while a Ream-publican surfaces, but we do that just to let them sink themselves.

That's why they call us the "left coast". Washington, Oregon and California have traditionally been Democrat states. Yes, impervious to the wiles of the Rat-publicans (except for little Arnie down South).

As you probably know, we've got problems here in Oregon (what state doesn't?).

Good news, though.

3. Oregon is a schizzy state
Portland (the largest city) and the three main college towns of Eugene, Corvallis, and Ashland are very dependably liberal.

The rest of the state is libertarian-leaning Republicans, with colonies of leftover hippies scattered here and there. In the small town where I lived for seven years, there were a fundamentalist bookstore and a New Age bookstore across the street from each other, and both the fundies and the New Agers had their own private schools. On the whole, however, the state is secularized and has the highest percentage of declared atheists of any state. That's why the Republicans tend to be libertarian rather than Puritanical.

They vote against taxes on a knee-jerk basis but for medical marijuana and assisted suicide.

I forget exactly where the 12th district is.
