In other words, if you have good software (Adobe Photoshop, for instance, or any one of several imitators, some of which are free or shareware) and you learn how to use it, you can go a long way towards getting good results from even a low-resolution image.
So wherever you go for your camera (check out epinions.com for reviews on different brands and models), under no circumstances should you content yourself with just downloading your images straight to a printer. Get some decent software, so you can highlight, emphasize, sharpen, paint over, crop, replace colors, etc. etc. I think PaintShop Pro is still shareware, and it has a lot of the same features as the expensive programs.
