Good Saturday Morning, Crew!

:donut::hi:
Welcome to the weekend edition of the Early Morning Crew thread! :bounce::woohoo: I hope you had a good week and you're ready for a relaxing or fun filled couple of days off! I had a good week and I have to work today, but I'm off tomorrow, so at least I get one of the two weekend days off and I'm glad about that!

Greekspeak and I met our Realtor yesterday as soon as I got off work and went through a house that was listed for $90,000. The first thing I noticed was the pet urine smell that permeated everything. x( In one room, carpet had been put down on top of older carpet and the back door had been kicked in and was now screwed shut with about 10 screws. There was SO much wrong with that poor house, it wasn't even worth $20,000! Let alone 90! There were many other problems as well...wood rot, uncooled or heated rooms...And the seller wants to sell it "As-Is" with no warranty. Our Realtor was a fraud investigator for Allstate for several years, then a home inspector for several years before he became a realtor, so I completely trust everything he tells me about a home! We had a good laugh at the place and left immediately afterward. So, that was our first home showing and even though it was an awful place, I learned a lot! :bounce:

So...what are YOU'RE plans for the weekend? Are you ready to get this day started? Me too! So let's do it! :bounce:

2. Good morning Clint.
:hi:

Can't stay for long, I'm about to vanish again.

Sounds like a lovely house you looked round - though perhaps you might be looking for something a tad different.

Hope that you have a great week-end.

Good day to you, darlin'! My week ended on a mixed note: an anxiety attack earlier, but a baseball game later, in beautiful weather. You might see my thread of the sunset pics I took at the ballpark a little farther down the page.

It's so funny you picked the song you did -- I was singing that song to myself earlier today!

Good morning to you too, my dear! I'm sorry to hear you had an attack. I know how those are...Greekspeak has them too, but the takes meds for it and hasn't had one in a long time. I AM glad that the day ended good for ya though! I'll go take a look at your sunset pictures (I love sunset photos) in a sec! :bounce: What a coincidence about that song, huh?

9. I take meds for anxiety, but every once in awhile, I still get one.
This one was pretty bad today, but after I took an extra pill, I started calming down. Whew!

My ancient computer can't read any threads longer than about 50 posts so I'm thrilled to hop on and say GOOD MORNING !!! Am amazed they all tend to reach far more than that number by 8 eastern or so. You guys are too funny.

Getting a new 'puter next week.

Best of days soon approach.

24. Good morning, Clintmax!
:donut: :hi:

Wow, you sure did walk into a "fixer-upper"! Maybe they should sell it to the "Flip This House" crew!

My plans? I have to see the eye doctor today (just routine), then the buyer is coming over to learn how to run all the stuff, then we'll continue packing. We washed and packed all the outdoor things yesterday -- what a job! I didn't know I had so many little things in the gardens! My mom was able to sit in a chair and wrap things up for me, which really helped. :bounce:

I made a pile of phone calls, too. I'm annoyed at the utility companies ... the water company won't turn our water on without us being there. Our landlord can't even do it for us! So we'll be traveling with four cats for about 18 hours and then have to spend the weekend without water? x( That certainly made me determined to drill a well for the new house so I don't have to deal with them again. And, since we're renting, we have to pay an extra $50 deposit. What's up with that? And everyone else wants to run a credit check -- they won't accept a letter of credit from our current utility companies. You would THINK it mattered that we've lived here for 12 years and never missed a payment with any of them. I mean, they do seem to be afraid we won't pay. Time to call in harleydad to get things going smoothly.

Wow...you had quite a day yesterday yourself! I don't blame you wanting to get Mister Harley to make things run smoothly! It seems EVERYONE wants to run credit checks these days. I don't understand it either. I hope things calm down for you, my dear.

41. We saw a few like that here.
Twelve years ago, for over $100,000 ... we just walked in and out of some of them. I remember one that smelled so much of pet urine that we never made it in the door. As soon as the door opened, I said, "I'm done."

Thanks, but I don't think things are going to calm down for me for a long time. At least we're on a count-down. We have a closing date -- June 8! :bounce: We won't be here for it -- the realtor will handle everything. This time four weeks from now, we'll be on our way to TN! :bounce: Harleydad still hasn't found a job, but he has a friend who's going to rent a room to him so he can stay down here and work until he finds something ... or until his current boss gets with the times and lets him telecommute. :D

48. Hopefully, we won't see too many like that house.
You never know until you actually get inside what it's really like. I hope everything turns out fine in the end. I'm sure it will...but I guess there will just have to be some craziness until everything is taken care of.

54. One thing our realtor told us that we couldn't believe
is how many people try to sell houses that are in poor repair and dirty. We even had some buyers tell us they were afraid to touch light switches in other houses because they were so filthy. I hope you get a nice one that you just fall in love with! :bounce:

Yeah, we'll be OK. So far, so good. I'm going to spend the summer shopping with the builder, after all. We have light fixtures, floors, appliances, countertops, sinks ... you name it ... to pick out! :bounce: The property manager told me yesterday that it's loads of fun! Her parents are both realtors and our builder has built four houses for them to sell, so she knows all about it. :bounce:

92. Feeling great today
Guess you got out of that house hunt with your eyes watering and gasping for air. One of the first houses we bought had that problem (told you about the cover-up). Another unpleasant discovery, when I went to clean the inside of the stove, it was so bad, I had to buy a new one. It would have taken a blow torch to remove the cooked on food. You have to wonder......

93. Get This, My Morning So Far (I'm An Idiot):
Edited on Sat May-06-06 07:26 AM by Dinger
I live in northern Wisconsin, and this is the opening day of fishing season. My husband is a big outdoor guy. Anyway, last night he realized that the boat registration wasn't sent for yet, and has recently expired. You can do this online, but you need to print out a receipt. Our printer died, and it's almost 10 p.m. Anyway, I have a friend that lives about a half hour from here (rural area) , so I called her & asked if I could do this over at her place, & bless her heart, she said to come right over. I don't get HBO, and wanted to see Wesley Clark on Mahre's show, which she had on, so I got to watch it (cool!). So I got home, with the recipt for the boat registration in hand. It was about 12 a.m. . Our son & his girlfriend came over - they're fishing at a local lake, along with dad-in-law & bother-in-law, who are also fishing & coming over tomorrow for breakfast at 4:30 a.m. Guess who volunteered to make breakfast? Yup, Dinger the idiot. I made pancakes (from scratch), with real maple syrup, and ham. Then I made sandwiches & packed a little lunch for the fishermen/woman (2 boats, 5 people). Then I put some wet clothes in the dryer, and washed & dried the dishes. I put a roast in the oven because I'm making beef sandwiches & scalloped potatoes for supper. Now, I'm on DU, having some Dinger time - finally! It's a beautiful morning here (7 a.m.) in northern Wisconsin. The sun is up, we live in a log cabin in the woods, and it feels oh so good to finally relax, however, I may fall asleep any time now . . . .

Sorry to hear about your house experience. IMHO your realtor should have screened that house and never showed it to you. It's just a waste of time.

I'm feeling really burned out from my work week. Didn't even go and row this morning which is unusual for me. Think I'll just veg out today, concentrate on domestic chores.
