1. My West Highland fits snugly...
OTOH, no amount of petroleum jelly can grease my Cairn to that point. ;(

12. I stand firmly against water based lubricants.
It's either real grease or my grease.

Am I missing out on something here?

Oh, BTW, Vasaline lasts a DAMN long time.

9. My ex-gf had a Westie.
He was the coolest little dog ever. I wish I could have gotten partial custody of Max.

3. Apparently something strong enough to hide the fact that dogs are
well, noisy poo machines (and I say that with love.)

8. Actually it's big and purple.
It has some glass pipe friends hanging out with it, but they're just decorations on a bookshelf these days.

6. Are you going to meet the pup you posted pics of earlier?
He looked very sweet, and I love that heart shaped spot on his nose.

7. I talked about it with my mom.
She wants to get a Lab. I hate retrievers. I know this makes me un-American or something but I'm really not a fan of them.

10. Well yeah, they're neurotic
and they act like they're amped up on crank.

I'm partial to really lazy dogs myself, but not smally yappy ones. We had a boxer when I was a kid and I think she was just about the best family dog ever. Well once she stopped trying to dig under fences (she was a late spay and our neighbors had a boy dog I think she wanted to make friends with.)

11. They act like retarded puppies until they die.
Honestly, I also find them too friendly. I'm more used to the sort of dog that is more of like a steady sidekick. They like their playtime and you can run them and wrestle them, but then they're not going to be a wigglingly nut job when you're done. I also always liked tougher dogs. My mom used to be the same way with dogs but she married a guy that only likes labs, so now she only likes labs. We get his lab sometimes on weekends. I don't even like to pet the dog because I can't get rid of her. It's not even like she just wants to hang out with me (that I'm fine with). You pet this dog once and then she will spend the next five hours running circles around you, your chair, whatever. And she's eight! The only time I ever saw this dog not acting like a maniac was when my cat Midnight backed her into a closet and wouldn't let her out. Midnight grew up kicking German Shepherd ass, so a much smaller, wimpier lab is no challenge.

The only small breed of dog that I really, really like is the West Highland Terrier. I know a few people that have them and they're not yappy or hyper, even though they're small. They're really smart, rough & tumble little dogs.
