Not a Joke: Free Republic Posters Endorse Lieberman
Edited on Mon Dec-08-03 07:43 PM by Neo Progressive
We should extend a carrot to Senator Lieberman and encourage him to bring his pro-Iraq-War and pro-Israel views on over to our big tent.
It would be a heckofa way for Holy Joe to get back at those who just backstabbed him with this endorsement...

There is room in the tent for ol' Joe! He may not be presidential timbre in style, but he has some good points - better suited to the tent with the elephants.

Holy Joe, the DINO.
I like him. That proves he's no Democrat.

I expected more posts on this, considering these guys have 100 replies to anything remotely negative about Bush...

7. This is good, really
Your Freeper has no regards for human life, not even his own.

A Freeper would never vote for a Democrat in a million years, so we'd have to move Holy Joe into the (R) column. And frankly, he'd be a better fit for what Freepers really value--small-government conservatism--than is Bush.

We know and they know Holy Joe is a Republican in Dem's clothing. However, there's no indication HJ is part of the PNAC cabal, and therefore a safer choice than Bush. I think he'd make a good Republican president. (Note I did not say a good president; there is a difference. Bush is a bad Republican president as well as a bad president in general. Nixon was the last good Republican president, and he was a crook.)

So check this out: We get HJ to transfer to the Republican Party in time to run in the New Hampshire primary. He runs against Bush. Helped by a goodly dose of Democratic advertising about what Bush is really about, the Republicans would have a real choice: a small-government religious conservative (HJ) against a large-government religiously insane right-wing liberal (the Village Idiot). I think Joe could take the Republican nomination away from Bush, especially if Bush is perceived as having negative coattails, that strange perversion of politics that causes people to vote for Democratic congressmen because they want to hamstring the Republican president, or vice versa. If Bush starts pulling down the rest of the party, they'll put him on a small plane.

At that point we're faced with a dilemma: will the Repugs who believe every government official should be a hardcore Christian Fundamentalist vote for a Jew? If the answer is no, our guy wins in a landslide; if the answer is yes, we need a more appealing candidate than Lieberman to take the swing voters.

8. If they like him, they are dumb as hell
Lieberman has many strong liberal qualities and positions. If they knew about them, they would despise him.

BUT, Lieberman is a bigtime zionist and therefore I just can't support him.
