Don't go cheap on the tripod, because if you do someone will report a Greenshank 10 miles from you and you and your friend will go chase it and you and your friend will have to take turns trying to shield the breeze from the tripod/scope setup and you will get the most jittery looks ever at a very cool rare bird and you will wish that you had invested the money in a good tripod instead of tying to cheap out.
Don't ask me how I learned not to cheap out on the scope. :(
