Speaking of cats: Anyone ever had a cat who whined incessantly?
Not chatter. Not the call of a cat in heat. Not everyday, "how ya doing" conversation. WHINES...almost like a dog whine.

I have a cat trio (all one litter) One female chats. One is completely mute. Even in heat.

The male WHINES!

Full bowl of food, full bowl of fresh water, fresh litter box. Doesn't want snuggle or scratches. Doesn't want to be touched. Just want to sit at my feet and CRY. If I ignore him, he climbs to the back of the couch and hits me in the head until I look at him. Then jumps back to the floor and WHINES.

I don't know what his deal is, but I'll soon have a nice new fur cap.

1. Our male, Cloudberry, whines, not like a dog, but whines
he's a subordinate male, so he gets picked on a lot and now he meows so much when he is in the house.

2. Oreo drives me nuts with her whining.
mmmmRoooooooooooow! (ascending pitch)
Sometimes I swear she does it just to annoy the hell out of me.
Sometimes it means "I want to go out in the garage," or "I want treats," or "Get your butt outside and get me some grass." Today it meant, "Get me the hell out of this damned cat carrier. And stop this stupid car from moving."

3. I don't mind the noise so much
I just don't know what he's trying to tell me!

I'm a very attentive pet parent, but I can't figure out what he needs. He's snoozing now. Maybe he was just bored!

4. Don't get me started
Boots drives me absolutely NUTS with his incessant whining....meow...meow...mrow...mrrroww. SHUT UP, BOOTS!

This happens especially when he hears a bird chirping outside and he wants to sink his kitty teeth in that birdie.

5. Our little old female torty does that.
But she has some geriatric/intestinal issues - and she'll wander off during bathroom time and yeowl and whine.
(She is under Dr.'s care).
But I guess you're talking about a different sort of communication - does he wanna go out? If you got up, would he follow you?
It's funny how they're all different.

except that he howls instead of whining. :D One of his nicknames is Nine Alarm. He'll just go on and on and on and on and on and on...without either of the humans having ANY idea what the cat is on about.

He's has to duck a few flying fluffy seat cushions that were airborned by the s.o. :D

The kicker is that he was on the brink of death when we started feeding him at the ex-house; he improved, sired a gaggle of cats before we had a chance to catch him and get him neutered, and has been carrying on loud ever since we took him with us to our current abode last year. He's FIV+, we think he's about 9, his vet has a serious crush on him, and the fact that he's still around is a bloody miracle. I just wish he wasn't quite that loud. :)

On edit: it's raining like the dickens, and Evie is singing at the atrium door. The li'l diva takes after her dad, alright. :D

8. Clark whines, always has, always will. That is his natural tone
of voice. I have come to the conclusion after 3 years that he is just talking to us in his normal way of speaking.

Lewis mumbles and fusses, Zilla chirps and gurgles and Thomas has a Siamese yowl.
