I have a horrible craving for raw cookie dough - someone knock some sense.
into me PUL-LEASE

I'm home for the next 3 days and I'm watching soaps on TV and there was a commercial for those ready made cookies you just pop into the oven.

Suddenly I'm craving just eating a bag of that stuff raw.

I'm losing weight and I haven't had a craving like this since I don't know how long. HELP!!!!!!! I WANT RAW COOKIE DOUGH!!!

Just think of the salmonella from the eggs
It's all that keeps me from it. I too am a horrible dough-eater.

My mom used to have to make extra pie crust (non toxic) so my dad I and I could eat some of it raw.

LOL - I love being able to find others who feel the same way. Obviously Ben & Jerry know this - they made an ice cream stricly for us!

2. the raw and the cooked
Well, for starters, I have always understood that scarfing down raw egg (in cookie batter or anywhere else) was a recipe for disaster, health-wise. I cook and bake a lot. I try not to ingest raw batter. I taste it a tiny bit to make sure it's okay and then: into the oven.

4. Nope, better get some and eat *a little bit*

Do it quickly before the craving gets too bad. It's better to blow your diet a little by nipping a craving in the bud than it is to wait until it gets unbearable, decompress, and wind up eating three rolls of the stuff before you know what's going on. As someone who frequently gets massive food cravings, I can say it's better to indulge in moderation (and not deprive yourself) than it is to wait and wait and then finally explode.

BTW, if you're dieting, you shouldn't be completely cutting yourself off from *anything* -- that way lieth madness. Just try to eat less of the fattening stuff, less often. That way you'll still have balance (healthy food AND sweet tooth) and continue to lose weight. :)

By the way, on edit, if you're on Atkins, get off it. I don't care what the people who are trying to sell you that diet say, it's seriously not healthy. I looked at it and saw deficiency diseases on the hoof, so no *wonder* you're having horrible cravings. If you *must* use a commercial weight loss programme, I recommend Weight Watchers, but personally, it's better to just cut down a bit on fats and starches and all dietary excess, and start exercising regularly. Granted, the results aren't as fast or drastic, but you'll be a *lot* healthier in the long run.

7. Go for it. Drive over to Costco and buy one of those 10 lb. tubs
of raw cookie dough. It comes in several flavors, tastes great, and is pasteurized. What the hell, it's the holidays!

9. I'll eat the whole damn tub
Better to let this craving fade out than to give into the temptation. Sure I'll eat stuff here and there occasionally, but if I buy a package of cookie dough that thing will be gone before I drive home.

Better to work this one out. Time for more sugar-free jello

8. Cookie dough - raw egg = solution
solution = use egg beaters in your baking dough. Then you can eat raw all you want! ;-)

supernova <-- Atkins follower; raw cookie dough eater.

11. Or pasteurized eggs!
That's all I will buy anymore. About the only drawback to them is that it's nearly impossible to make a meringue (sp?) with them, but that isn't quite a common problem in our house. :)
