that's hot, not out of a can, and covers all the food groups.

Help a part-time house dad out here!

15. This is the perfect FAST comfort food recipe....
Boil up a lb of spaghetti. While it's getting to boiling, make up the salads or veggie sides.

Salt the water until it's as salty as the sea.

Grate a cup of REAL PARMESAN CHEESE. Please don't ever use the fake stuff.

When pasta has been cooked according to directions, take away a cup of the pasta water and set it aside.

Drain the pasta, set aside.

Put the pot back on the stove, turn the heat to medium. Melt 3 tablespoons of butter in the pan, add some grindings of nutmeg, then add your cup of pasta water, and bring to a simmer, and let it reduce down to about a half cup... takes about 5 minutes, then add your pasta back into the pot.

Using tongs quickly coat the pasta in the butter sauce, reaching in and pulling up through, then add the parmesan cheese as you continue the same action. Serve this up and next time, double the recipe, since your family will demand seconds. And thirds.

8. Not HH, but.....
You can buy bags of frozen pasta/veggie/sauce stuff at the market that require you to add chicken, or beef and you can have that ready in about 10 minutes.

They also make them for oriental dishes instead of pasta.

The most time consuming thing about cooking is the prep. Cutting and trimming etc. If you buy stuff that's already prepped, you're 75% of the way there.

13. HH is plastic, artificial, fake, chemical laden, calorie filled, useless
fillers that offers no nutrition whatsoever.

A plain hamburger patty with onions, garlic, worcestorshire sauce, olive oil, etc is FAR more filling and nutritious and uses LESS ingredients!

It would be even more cost effective to make a side of pasta.

4. Just made this last night....

4 chicken breasts (thawed)
1 tbs olive oil
1 can cream of chicken soup
1/3 cup water
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tbs italian seasoning
1 cup chopped broccoli
1/2 cup parmesan cheese

4 cups cooked noodles (anything works, I like spirals or egg noodles)


in a large skillet, brown chicken in olive oil (you can cut up the chicken if you like to make it easier to handle).
when cooked through, add soup, water, and spices. bring to a simmer, turn down heat and simmer until just starting to thicken.
mix in broccoli (if frozen, defrost in microwave first)
serve over noodles, with cheese on top.


OK, its closer to 20 minutes. but still quick and relatively easy.

10. the cream of chicken soup cans have more recipes
just like that - usually pretty easy and no unusual ingredients. I try them when in a hurry.

9. QUESADILLAS with cheese, some sauteed chicken, beans and a side
of fruit... you could even toss an apple crisp into the oven, it would be done by the time dinner was finished.

English muffins - Toast most of the way in a toaster oven
put on some sauce pepperoni and cheese
toast again until cheese melts

Dip them in Italian Dressing and broil them.

Serve with a Tossed salad and a dish of Couscous made with chicken broth, garlic, italian seasoning and parmesan.

17. This takes more like a half hour, but still is easy and good
1 lb ground hamburger or turkey
1 package of canned biscuits
onions and bbq sauce to taste (if your kids are picky, water down the bbq sauce with ketchup)
shredded cheddar (or whatever kind you like) cheese

Brown the hamburger and onions. Drain the grease from the meat. Add sauce to taste.

Press out each biscuit into a depression in a muffin pan. Fill each biscuit cup with meat, cook at 400 for about 8-9 minutes. Remove from oven, sprinkle cheese on top, and return to the oven to melt the cheese.

Kids love this recipe. You can throw a side salad together or cook a canned or frozen vegetable (like corn-kids like corn)to serve with it.

19. Bring four to six cups chicken or veggie broth, seasoned with soy sauce,
to a slow boil (you can also add mirin, rice vinegar, brown sugar, pepper, whatever)

Add two bundles (1/2 package) Asian wheat paste noodles (available at Asian markets for about 50 cents a package)
Add some spinach, peas, green beans, carrots or other veggies (frozen is fine -- thaw under running water first)

Return to slow boil

Add 1 egg per person, swirl around a bit (you can leave the yolks whole to poach, or you can scramble it all up)

The soup is done when the eggs are cooked to your liking.

Serve with pineapple.

Seriously? Chef's salad. You can put just about anything and everything in it. Plus, it's quick and you won't heat up the kitchen.

Protein
Bacon (nuked)
Hard-boiled eggs
Leftover chicken or beef
pre-cooked salad shrimp


Veggies
Raw spinach
Other dark leafy greens of your choice
Carrots
Celery
Iceberg lettuce
Avocado chunks

Dairy
Grated cheese of your choice

Grains, nuts, seeds
Whole grain croutons
Toasted sesame seeds
sunflower seeds
toasted pecans

21. Here's a favorite
ingredients:
1 lb bag Broccoli cuts
2 cans cream of Broccoli soup
1 jar cheesy pasta sauce
either tuna or Chicken chunks
1 lb pasta


Boil water for the pasta. Cook pasta according to directions. In a separate pan, mix the soup, sauce, meat and broccoli and a can and a half of water or milk. Heat on med heat stirring occasionally until hot, and broccoli is cooked. Mix and serve. Yummy stuff. Honest!

I usually whip this up in about 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the type of pasta.
