6. Lint roll your cat
this sometimes makes my cat Quasi run away, but occasionally she'll relax and enjoy it. Helps with allergic folks around.

8. How to Make a Cat Walk Backwards
Take a gym sock and put it over its head. Any and all cats will walk backwards in response (and, no, it doesn't hurt them).
John
Has nine cats and has won many beer bets with this trick. Hell -- I feed 'em every day, they owe me.

10. How could anyone object to a cat in their lap?
I guess I just miss having cats. I wish my landlord would let me have one.

But all right, if I was bound, set and determined not to derive pleasure from petting a fuzzy feline friend, I would just stand up. Voila - no lap! But I'm the kind of person that cats make a beeline toward - even cats who supposedly hate strangers are drawn to me. They can't resist me, nor I them.

12. The reason cats make a beeline to certain people
Or so I've heard...

In a room full of cat-lovers and one cat-hater, everyone will be moving around and making noise except the cat-hater. The cat goes where it's least likely to be bothered!

(not to suggest you're a cat-hater - more likely you just don't make such a fuss as everyone else)

18. I think it's because cats know I love 99% of their species.
Rare is the cat I don't take a shine to. It's not that I don't make a fuss, I just seem to understand their language, and they know it with a glance. "Aha," they say, "This guy is a sucker. He'll scratch behind my ears." And they're right.

19. This is true. The Cornell University Veterinary Newsletter states...
that the cat-hater doesn't make eye contact with the cat, or ignores it, which the cat interprets as non-threatening. Thus the cat heads straight for the cat-hater.

Put me in a room with ANY cat. I can pass the sniff test.

11. Hey SoCal
got any advice on how to make a cat stop picking at the carpet? He's got a scratching post but he's picking and grinning all over in my new apartment. He doesn't do it when I'm there because he knows I'd yell at him.

14. If there's a certain spot he likes, put down a cheapo throw rug
over it and let him scratch it.. also you could buy catnip spray and spritz it on his scratching pst.. Our babies LOVE their daily "fix"..

Even old man Skunkie has to roll around an love the post :)
