DUers crash XNASA's Christmas party — And I've got the pictures!

XNASA and his lovely wife, Cate, hosted a holiday party last night in their well-appointed home. Several DUers were invited to mix with their other friends. Don't worry. We were extremely well-behaved and didn't frighten the other guests. ;-)

In attendance were forradalom, her husband and energetic son, and ProfessorGAC and his wife, who was a trooper despite feeling under the weather. Unfortunately, I didn't get out the camera until after they already had gone. :-(

Also there were SusanG and her husband mkuhl, who are some of the most fun people to party with, and wndycty, who spent a considerable amount of time trying to lure me to Clark's side. :-)

It was an excellent party, filled with good food, interesting conversation (although I was in WAY over my head with all the talk about music and musicians) and much laughter. And any party where they pull out Tom Jones toward the end is destined to leave a lasting impression.

We have had several Chicago DU get-togethers which have been open to everyone on this board. You certainly have been more than welcome to attend. However, this was in his home and he invited several of us who have become friends after meeting on a number of occasions. Would you invite strangers into your home?

Perhaps you can join us at our next gathering. We certainly aren't trying to exclude anyone.

He and I have been friends since grade school.

And he's a newlywed. He and his lovely bride Maureen were married in Ireland just weeks ago. Maureen is from the island, while Murray, or rather Kevin is of Irish decent.

Now that he's married to an Irish citizen, I keep telling him to move the Europe.

She's the SO of my good friend Terry, who's in the middle. Terry is the other guitarist in our band. I've known Terry for 25 years (which is longer than Megan's been alive).

Terry's quite a character. He's been in the Chicago music scene, both on stage and as a manager/club owner forever, it seems.

Actually, we had to go put our little guy to bed. Don't tell DCFS, but I brought a four-year-old to a party with DUers. He spent the evening playing foosball in the rec room with various grownups and attempting to get the attention of the teenagers down there, to no avail.
