recurring nightmare
Over tens years ago, I waited tables at a steak house (through college and beyond!) in ATL for 6 years.

About once a month I have this terrifying dream of being slammed with like 10 tables at once, I can't remember any of the computer order codes, can't find anything in the kitchen, and i'm totally weeded out until I wake up trembling.

I guess it could be worse . . . glad I didn't work in a morgue

1. This is a variation of a common 'stress' nightmare. The one that I have
periodically had involves being a college student, where it's near final exam time, and I suddenly discover I'm still enrolled in a course that I thought I'd dropped, I haven't gone to class or touched any of the materials all term, and the final is in a day or two.

This dream periodically reappears in stressful periods of my life.

It doesn't help that I've actually lived situations close to this, and more than once...

Did you notice anything in your life circumstances when this dream appears? Times of stress or crisis?

4. Well, in my version of the dream, I'm not actually walking in to take the
test, I generally have at least a day or two, it's the "sinking feeling" of realization, looking at some bulletin board listing or something, discovering that I'm still in the class, and now I'm gonna be up for one or two days straight trying to learn the whole course to pass.

3. Trucker nightmares are the worst
My recurring nightmare is that I'm rolling up on a traffic jam and my brakes go out. I wake up right before impact gasping for air. For some reason I never think to steer the truck off the road in the dream which is what I'd do in real life.

I only have that dream when I'm sleeping in my truck out on the road.
