I just put up my xmas tree. Ask me anything.
I normally have enough holiday spirit to choke an elf but I just haven't been able to get into the swing of things this year. So I was whining to a fellow DUer and he told me to put up my tree - that that would help. Well, it's up and it's got lights and fun tinsel and ornaments all over it and it's sparkly and I'm glad I did it. But I'm not sure I feel any more xmas-y than when I started. Gonna have to see if it grows on me I guess.

1. What kind of lights? Multicolour?
Large or small...

What other Christmas traditions do you enjoy? For me, it just isn't Christmas until someone bastardises "The Night Before Christmas."

3. My apartment isn't very big...
so the tree is only about 6 feet tall. It still takes up a whole lot of my living room. But that's ok. I like the lights.

I love the holidays and my family has lots of traditions. Back at thanksgiving my parents and I put the lights up on their house. And next weekend my best friend and I will spend 48 straight hours baking cookies and gingerbread men and making fudge and other assorted goodies. Mmm...

My family's tradition for xmas eve and xmas day is low-key. My dad works at a hospital. When my brother and I were little he would be off xmas morning but as soon as we got big enough he started working xmas day so others with small children could be off. That started our xmas eve tradition. If we didn't do so the day before, my momma and sister-in-law and best friend and "niece" get together and make xmas cookies. Then we order pizza so my momma doesn't have to cook. Then everybody comes to the house and we eat and open presents and play Trivial Pursuit (or something like that) and pile in the van and go look at lights. It's low stress and lots of fun.

If my nephew is there he gets his official "from Santa" presents on xmas morning. Then everybody gets up and helps with putting dinner together - turkey, ham, homemade mashed potatoes, corn, peas, rolls...the whole 9 yards. The rest of the day is usually pretty quiet. Grazing on the leftovers. Reading (I always get books). Watching whatever movies people got as presents.

I'm rambling. Sorry. :-)

5. I appreciated the ramble.
It's always fascinating to peek into someone else's hearth and home.

9. Kewl
You shouldn't have let me know that. I'll talk your ear off. I have a ton of family traditions and stories. :-)

I feel like such a weirdo sometimes because my family is like the updated version of a Norman Rockwell painting.

2. HOW BIG is it baby???? lol
I just got mine up. With my bum knee I'm decorating it a few minutes at a time.

Do you use the same ornaments every year, or go for a new theme?

4. It's pretty much the same stuff
But I did get new tinsel this year. It rocks. Four strands and none of them match each other. One is white with little metallic holly berries and leaves. One is green with different colored xmas lights. One is two-tone red and green. And the last is silver with little red and silver candy canes. I love tinsel. :-) The ornaments and lights I've had for about 5 or 6 years though, ever since I moved to Austin and decided it was time to have my own xmas tree. :-)

It's only about 6 feet tall. Small apartment.

10. Yes it would
You should make some and make a fortune selling them to your fellos DUers. I bet I'm not the only Lounge-lizard who would love to have one.
