2. Judging by today's performance, sure...
...however, has the BCS given Oklahoma too much of a lead going into today's games?

At least we know can say with certainty that they are NOT one of the best teams ever. They look like s**t!

4. the BCS is too... obtuse, or something
We need a playoff system. If the small schools can have a playoff, why can't the big ones, I wonder.

5. Like I said, replace the 4 BCS games with an 8-team playoff.
The BCS standings wouldn't go away completely, but instead they would determine the seedings for the eight playoff teams.

Add three more bowl games for the semifinals and championship, and VOILA, your temporary playoff solution.

If there was a permanent solution, I would institute a 32-team playoff tournament using the guidelines of the NCAA basketball tourney.

6. Yup, all three teams have a good argument for going
I mean, OU got creamed, but it's still only one loss, and LSU and USC also have one loss. Should they be penalized because it's at the end of the season? Sadly, that's the way it works. Then there's the argument that teams should get better as the season progresses, and USC and LSU certainly did, so if OU goes, then why is that argument--which has been used in the past to justify decisions--no longer valid?

11. OU wasn't at home
Unless they're actually the Kansas City Chiefs ;-).

It was technically a "neutral" site, although Arrowhead isn't too far from Manhattan, so that edge might have gone to K-State.

8. Good chance for a split poll
Edited on Sun Dec-07-03 12:00 AM by DoctorBombay
USC is going to be #1 in both polls. The Sugar Bowl is probably going to be Oklahoma vs. LSU. The coaches are required to vote the winner of the Sugar Bowl #1 in their final poll. The media, in the AP poll, are under no such obligation. If USC beats Michigan, they'll share a national title. Wild!

Here are the probable scenarios come tomorrow, in order of likelyhood:

Sugar- Oklahoma-LSU
Rose- USC-Michigan
Fiesta- Kanasas State-Florida State
Orange- Miami-Ohio State

OR

Sugar- Oklahoma-USC
Rose- Michigan-Florida State
Fiesta- Kansas State-LSU
Orange- Miami-Ohio State

OR

Sugar- LSU-USC
Rose- Michigan-Florida State
Fiesta- Kansas State-Ohio State
Orange- Miami-Oklahoma

edit: spelling

12. Shouldn't be Oklahoma
If you don't win your own conference, you shouldn't be able to play for the national title.

14. Yeah, but...
They still had the best record in Big XII play (8-1), even with tonight's loss. The conferences that are split and hold title games make that a bit of a muddled point.

19. Boise is like 23-2 in the last two years.
Only loss was to Arkansas last year and Oregon State this year.

24-14 at the Half, BTW.

20. Should be LSU and USC.....
their losses were earlier in the season, and they won their conferences. OU didn't. Whichever of the 3 doesn't get to go is going to have angry fans, IMO.
