You're The TV Critic

Now that we are near the end of the fall 2005-2006 season, what TV shows do you think got better and what shows in your opinion got worse.

What show or shows do you hope stay or are glad that it's already been announced as staying? What show or shows do you hope get cancelled or are glad that they have already been cancelled?

Here are some of my thoughts.

I still watch Lost but I am not enjoying it as much as Season One. They just don't seem to have the balance that they did last year. It seems like they concentrate more heavily on the flash blacks now, and we are seeing less of what is going on, on the island. And thus less of how the islanders interact together in their situation, which is what drew me to the show last year. It seems like unless they are the one chosen for the flashback that episode, we barely see the other characters.

I am happy it will be back but I sure hope next year, will bring more balance between flashbacks and the island.

NCIS has gotten better. I liked the character of Kate, but I think Ziva's interaction with the others has added more humor. That's what I love best about that show, and what sets it apart fromt the other crime procedurals. Glad its safe for renewal.

Nip/Tuck- I am kind of on the fence. In some ways it improved, but in other areas it fell short. I loved seeing more balance in terms of how the air time was divided between the male leads. Last year I thought it concentrated far too much on Sean, and I loved that this season they gave Christian at least equal story time, if not a bit more. I also liked them giving Julia/Gina/and Liz their own business. That was comic relief for sure.

What I didn't like. I agree that it can be good to test the boundries and I support it, when the storyline supports it. I don't think shock for shock's sake alone, contributes to the entertainment aspect, however, which is primarily what I watch for. This year I got the impression that the writers were just trying to push the enevelope to merely see what they could get away with, rather than caring whether it actually worked for the storylines and characters or not.

Also they'd drop story points for weeks, wrecking the building suspense and momementum, with far less interesting stories. And after the big "Carver" build up to have it be the predictable choice "Quentin" was a complete let down. I wanted it to be some one shocking. For instance a mentally freaked out Kimber, as either the Carver or the Carver's accomplice, or Matt, or Julia. Quentin was way too obvious, and so was Kit as the accomplice.

I'm still glad they renewed it already though. I won't give up on it as long as Julian is there and a vital part of it.

I am hoping they renew Crossing Jordan. I am not too happy they broke Jordan up with the Aussie, only to have Woody dump her for the blonde cop-shrink, but I still enjoy the show, and hope it comes back, along with Law and Order Criminal Intent.

Also glad Law and Order SVU will still be around.

Glad they cancelled- The show I called "Harmed" once "Charmed." I've been wanting them to axe this show, ever since they wrecked it by the way they choose to write of Cole.
