...somebody got a hold of my credit card number and had fun this week. Sigh.

I got a call from my credit union's fraud department, noticing suspicious activity. Two consecutive charges at Jewel-Osco; fine, the clerk forgot an item on the first bill. Two Men and a Truck, yep. Then a whole bunch of charges in Mexico.

"Are you sure you haven't been to Mexico?"

Like I'd forget that I was in Mexico...today and yesterday.

They cancelled my card, and I have to call customer service tomorrow and order a new card, and call all of the other service providers that automatically bill to the card when I get the new number. I don't carry a balance, so at least I won't be paying interest for the privilege. I won't be held responsible for the charges in Mexico, but it's still a giant pain in the ass I don't need right now, as I'm trying to move.

At least it seems it's not pure identity theft -- my purse, wallet and all the contents have been in my possession the whole time, and my debit card's not been touched.
