Hi all...a medical question.please...
Tony and wonder guidedog Dietrich here.
Hope all is fine in DU Land.
Just found out I need to have my gall bladder removed. Found polyps and stones on it.
What a wonderful year, In January lost part of my small intestine. In February had pnemonia, and now this wonderful pain.
Anyone ever had this done? My surgeon wants to do it as an out patient, he says becuase of all the germs in the hospita.
I don't know, with my asthma and the pain I heard that follows if I should at least stay overnight for observation.
Dietrich is going to need some retraining after all this vacation time.
take care
tony and wonder guidedog dietrich

1. Can he schedule the surgery at a different hospital?
I'd think you'd also need someone at home with you if it's done on an out-patient basis.
I'm sorry you're having such a rough time.

2. I wish he could
Says he only has time to work out of one hospital.
Believe me I would rather go to another one. But the whole medical scene in Florida is a mess.

4. Staying in the hospital=higher risk of infection.
Do you have family or a friend who can stay with you overnight and lend a helping hand?

5. The new procedure is outpatient...
It's done through a scope and the incisions or very small compared to the old method of cutting from left to right all the way across the abdomen. I don't know if that makes the pain less, but I know the recovery time is much shorter. 2-3 weeks vs. 6-8 weeks.

Good luck.

Trudy
