4. He's my pick. Power, hits for average, good in the field and youth!
And a great guy who donates time and millions to handicap kids.

7. He lives in the St. Louis area too I hear
His multitalented skills remind me of old time players like Musial, Williams, and DiMaggio.

24. lucky
and I'm still can't believe that my mom couldn't find a Cardinal hat in the whole city of St. Louis when she went there on business last month. Did you see the poll on ESPN.com, most people would pick Pujols if they could start a team, his all around goods with the bat are like that of Stan Musial, more of a power hitter than the man was too.

29. Yeah Pujols deserves every penny of his contract
Not only is he a power hitter, he's a great clutch hitter, and he hits for results as well. He's just so immensely talented.

I can't wait to see what the new Busch Stadium looks like when I get to go there next month. It should be great times.

3. Went with Pujols
Edited on Thu Mar-30-06 05:09 PM by JohnKleeb
He'd be the guy I start a team with. He's young (25), he can hit for average, power, and is a great RBI man. I can see a guy like that winning a triple crown someday. I son'r know much about his defense abilities that said but I did see that he runs decently too for a first baseman. I still love Tejada though, he's my fave Al player and hopefully the Orioles will finally amount to something, but I wont hold my breath on that.

10. Better than A-Rod
:hide: He finally got a deserved MVP this year, I am telling you the more I learn about the Cardinals the more they become my favorite NL team, they really do have that traditional mentality that I like and they got great fans too.

12. I want him to say in New York or at least at 3B
There's uhh a certain record I don't want A-Rod to break. I'll give the guy his due, he's good but I don't like him and its not because he's a Yankee. I liked him when he was a Mariner when he became a Ranger though, bah.

This guy has the "tools" too. He may hit 60+ HRs sometime.

15. Ichiro!
Okay, I'm biased, as I'm a Mariners fan, AND an Ichiro fan. But, he IS a great player. You don't win gold gloves by being a mediocre player.

23. I can't recall, but WOW, what a catch that was!
Have you ever seen footage of "The Throw"? It was against Oakland several years ago, and Ichiro, way out in "Area 51" let loose a throw to third base that was an absolute bullseye, and threw the runner out. I still love seeing that thing!

But you have to factor "power" into your choice, IMHO.

22. Oh, I don't disagree with you, maveric
He's not a power hitter, but as lead up hitter, his job is to get on base. Still, he is very much a multi-dimensional player.

18. Bonds used to be before he bulked up and hurt his knees.
Now...well, it SHOULD be A-Rod, but he's so un-clutch. So, as a Cardinals homer, I pick Pujols. :D

20. The Chicken was more popular than the players at times.
I'd take my Little League teams to the games. We'd sit in Center at Qualcomm, where the chicken would make "in crowd" appearences. When he'd walk through the stands the kids would MOB HIM!
A few years back the Padres banned him from the games, for some reason.
