and it's impossible.

I got mad at Skinner for something once, and thought, "well, I just need to ignore him for a couple of days..." forget that!

But, there is one mod I just couldn't stand--his mod decisions were horrible (not against me--other people)....he might still be one, I am not sure.....after I found I couldn't put the mods on ignore, I almost wrote to Skinner and begged him to let me....but, then I just decided to use my internal "ignore."

So far so good.

Actually, I don't have one anymore. I did have a pretty big one there for a few months after I ended my last moderator term - lots of pent up e-aggression, I guess. It passed, but was bad for a while.

I'm also pretty happy in real life today, and that translates into a desire to play nicer here as well. It's tough to push my buttons these days. But if I ever felt I needed to put someone on ignore to keep myself from reacting badly to things, I'd do it again without hesitation.

I think the ignore function on DU is one of the most underrated features of the site. If a particular poster pushes your buttons, or you have a flashpoint issue that makes you emotional in ways you'd rather not debate on a message board, I say ignore away. It isn't a sign of weakness in my book. Rather, it shows a level of self-awareness and wisdom that I applaud.

And they got insulting. Being that they had been here forever and had a ton of posts and the issue was personal (unloading their personal baggage on me, the complete stranger who'd never seen them before their attacking post) and not political, I chose not to alert on them. I did let them know (after they persisted to hijack a thread with their nonsense) that this was unacceptable and that I felt forced to put them on ignore so if they chose to continue in the future, I wouldn't even be tempted to be drawn into their circular insults. I received several PMs later from DUers who said they had once had this same poster on ignore for the same reason. I still choose not to alert and to just let them be. It's not a political issues (like a troll), just something about me I suppose. :shrug:

I don't believe in ignore, and in fact, I keep the biggest douchebags on DU off ignore just so I can watch them be douchebags. It's fun. :)
