A kid in my friends daughters grade school misspelled the word knicker
At a spelling Bee.It was the innocence of youth, a lack of understanding what the teacher said to spell. She spelled the word NI__ER.
Now i hate that damn word as much as anyone with an ounce of decency.
but in a sad way it was almost funny.I guess next time the kid should have ask the teacher to use it in a sentence

1. I'll never be able to use the word 'knicker' now
I never noticed the similarity between those two words before you pointed it out.

2. Poor kid...and a sweet funny story from years ago
During the mid-'60s, knickers had made a fashion comeback in the Sears Fall catalog. My sis and I had recently made a new little friend, a really sweet girl. As we were browsing through the girls' clothing for fall and talking about what we might like for our new school clothes, my sis asked the girl, "Do you like knickers?" The girl paused for a second, and then innocently and sincerely replied, "Well, I like some colored people." We were floored and laughing hard, as kids will do when surprised. Our little friend looked so perplexed. Finally catching our breath, we explained it was a question about the knickers. Poor kid was so embarrassed by her mistake.

4. I'm hearing impaired
and stuff like that used to happen to me all the time. Not at that caliber, but I have been embarrassed by misunderstandings. Poor kid!
