My daughter turned 13 today
I am old and the end is in sight.

She can now officially go from angel to bitch in 0.5 seconds.

1. Today I went from "Daddy" to "Dad"
My daughter is only 4 years old!

I suppose tommorow I will no longer be "cool" to her. I thought I had a longer grace period. Rats!

8. I'm still cool to my daughter
It is my wife that is on the short end of the stick where my daughter is concerned. My daughter even blames my wife for things I do. I call her "girl" and my son "boy" a lot. Lovingly, of course. Just last night she yelled at my wife for not calling her by her name enough and just referring to her as "girl." It's the boy that thinks I am no longer cool. He's 10.

3. Bless you.
I have a 14 year old daughter. I hear the girl I know and love will be back in a few years. In the meantime, the daughter you once knew will now be replaced by OMG, like, something else all together. OMG!

4. Oh man. You bring back memories.
My "little girl" will be 35 in September.
If it's any consolation, she still thinks her dad is pretty cool.
The feeling is mutual.

11. When will she start thinking
her mom is cool again, because I feel for my wife. She is usually the brunt of the hormonal rage from my daughter.

7. I'll pray for you!!!
My daughter turned 14 in Dec. I truly believe the last two years have been the hardest yet. They are up - down, sad-happy, good girl - total bitch. All the previous emotions swing so quick sometimes my head spins. I friend told me once:
“The light at the end of the tunnel is not always the oncoming train”. Words to live by when raising a daughter.

I have also discovered that long car rides act as a truth serum on girls. As long as you keep your eyes on the road, they talk and talk once prompted.

Best of luck. I'm told it does get better eventually.

10. Thank you
I have noticed that she is relatively calm and open in the car. I just drove her to her violin lesson (her teacher has a wireless network so I can hook up to the internets and get some DU time in--I should be putting grades in the gradebook because the quarter ends on Friday, but, oh well) and she talked the whole way about school and stuff.
