I'm currently reading "The Little Friend" and, IMHO, it is EXCELLENT! I feel like I know all these old women-they're the same generation as my great aunts and strongly remind me of them. Her dialog and background detail is incredibe. The book is a sheer pleasure.

116. That is such an awesome novel!
When we had those Rodney King Riots that late April and I saw the South Central fires burning in the distance (viewed from near LAX) this book sprang to mind. I used to have dreams about Los Angeles in flames. Afterwards I went to the areas near Korea Town where I once worked and saw places I used to frequent that had burned down. Awful times, those.

I think Janet Dailey and the Wagons West series both wrote books featuring each of the fifty states, although Wagons West may have just done every state but the original 13 colonies. Also Louis L'Amour's Sackett books probably cover quite a few states.

86. DELAWARE: Fight Club
I'm stretching my mind to find a work of literature based in Delaware and I overlooked a major one - The Fight Club. They don't come out and say it's in Delaware but they mention (and it's in the movie) about how new fight clubs are cropping up in Delaware City, Newark & New Castle - all cities near Wilmington, DE - a city that has like 60% of all banks incorporated in the city because of our tax laws.

131. I love Carl Hiaasen. I picked up one of his books because of
the title. "Skinny Dip". Normally I don't read mystery or crime stories, but his characters are funny and the stories are always very entertaining.
