Parents you'd like to smack.
Or at least ask where the hell they keep their brains.

In Costco today...kid of about 5 or 6 running around, screaming out of the sides of his mouth because the center (his front bottom teeth) was clamped around a damned PACIFIER. Breast feeding a kid that age would be less offensive.

1. My sister...
Took her until my nephew was a bit over four to realize that pull-ups were not the solution, that yes indeedy she did need to get both toilets in the house working so that my nephew wouldn't have to try to hold it till he made it downstairs to get to the bathroom, that he would not be allowed into kindergarten if he wasn't toilet trained.

(She had ancient, wall mounted toilets, and when one cracked, she just shut it off instead of having it replaced.)

In her case, it was somewhat denial and somewhat laziness and somewhat not wanting to deal with it - it's just easier to buy the damn pull-ups than clean out underwear.

I think what motivated her was my niece (our other sister's daughter), who is just past two, is just about day-trained (she still wears diapers at night). I think she realized that she was not helping her son by taking the easy way out.

3. Last summer I was in Home Depot and this little kid came up behind
me and either flicked the back of my thigh or pinched it. All I know is I felt a stinging sensation and didn't even have time to turn around as he pushed me to the side. There was plenty of room for him to not even touch me or my cart. I stood there thinking WTF. His parents were at the other end of the aisle totally ignoring him and his little brother who were running wild up and down the aisles. He stayed with his parents a little bit and then just as my DH reached up to get a large item from an upper shelf the kid ran and pushed his way through between DH and the shelves. I got angry and said .."EXCUSE ME young man". With that the parents whispered to each other and left the aisle.

I later saw the kids elsewhere in the store..both boys acting out while
their parents just ignored them.
