My son got a very nice letter from the commish of his hoops league
the back story was that almost half his team was booted from the league for bad behavior. My son and the other four members of the team stuck it out and only won one game after the other half of the team was booted. It was a very hard season for them.

The commissioner basically congratulated my son for his sportsmanship and his teamwork. He said he was proud of him and the rest of his team for sticking it out, even in the face of real difficult times.

I was very pleased that he sent that letter. My son (who is 15) wishes he had a trophy, (at that age, it seems to be all about the bling), but I figure in 10 years, he will be able to read that letter and appreciate it. So I am putting it in his scrapbook!

I am so proud.

3. isn't that the sort of thing you get benched for
that game and the next?

What, they came off suspension and did it again? STOOOO-PID!

Sigh. Maybe if sports had more Kirby Pucketts and less Randy Mosses the kids would know how to play the game right.

4. They kept at it
It was a whole ugly situation. I had no issue with those guys getting tossed. It was totally called for.

6. He really is
He is currently trying out for the freshman baseball team. He told me that he signed up to play left field (because there is not a whole lot of competition for the outfield positions). He prefers to pitch, catch or play 3B, so the outfield thing for him would be a sacrifice.

I am thrilled with his maturity.
